As I sit here and think about the past couple years and all of the funny stories and situations that I was in, I can't help but to smile about all of the people that I have met that have changed my life forever. I will get into those stories in the near future but wanted to take a moment to explain how I've made it to where I am today.
A bit more about this girl I know. After she did her DSD in Jamaica, she went home and signed up for an open water course. It was touch and go, but she finally completed it on July 1st 2012. During the week she was studying and training to be an open water diver, her husband was looking around for another dive shop to continue her education, He stumbled across Y-kiki divers in St. Louis Missouri and there he met Tom. He explained to Tom that his wife was in the open water course with another shop but she wanted to continue her education through the instructor levels (a bit overzealous, you think?) Tom simply said, "bring her to me". The husband continued to tell of her never being in the water before two weeks ago and again Tom's response was "bring her to me." Everything the husband tried to tell Tom to prepare him for this girl, he simply said "just bring her to me, I will take care of her".
And Jeff did...he took that girl to Tom and as promised, Tom took great care of her. Under Tom's watchful eye and guidance she complete Advanced Open Water on July 8th, Emergency First Responder on August 1st, Emergency Oxygen Provider on August 5th, Rescue Diver on August 12th, and finally Divemaster in October 2012. Only four months after her very first encounter with water! Clearly, there are many stories about those four months and the things she learned, the people she met, and how that all shaped into her becoming an Open Water Scuba Instructor in May 2013 and a Master Scuba Diver Trainer in August 2013...and that my friends is what is known as zero to hero.
The next time you read, I will be a name dropper. I will reveal the identity of this girl as well as give the proper credit to those who have helped throughout the journey to MSDT and to owning my own 5 Star IDC Dive Center in Playa del Carmen Mexico.
