Under the Midst of Snow
A Christmas One Shot"Greetings."
She lifted her eyebrows, looking at the documents.
"What is this, mom?", "Take a look, my dear sugar bunch."
"I'm not going to open this unless you tell me what's in it.", "Look for yourself, you'd regret it."
"A marriage invitation? Cool." The lady swiftly tucks her hair strand in the back of her ear, mumbling. "Might take Sungjae that idiot to accompany me." She trailed off, earning a snicker from her mom. "What?" She asked, her eyelids still fluttering heavy because of tiredness.
"Well, you will really need him at that time."
"Yeah right." She reads the whole invitation, muttering. "Why is my name here with him?" She lifted her head to look at her mom, receiving a shrug. "I don't know, take a look."
"Mom, are you telling me..."
"MOM I'M NOT MARRYING MY BESTFRIEND!"
Yep, that's how the story started.
It all started with a simple teasing here, teasing there in between their parents- until they broke out the real thing; pushing the two in a marriage.
Joy scans through the papers, eyes never leaving a single letter and symbol whenever she would reread some statements.
She was resting herself over the restaurant, repeatedly checking on it. She can only slam her hands, upon seeing the familiar face walking inside the place scanning over her eyes.
"How can she just straightly give out all those shitty invitations to everyone saying we're getting married!?" The lady hissed in agony.
It was already a few days, and it was finally time for Sungjae and her to meet at the restaurant near the house of hers. "You know, Joy. You need to calm your freaking ass down." Sungjae called over to her, fingers playfully flickering on the invitation card that had both of their names carved in it. He sat down peacefully, crossing his arms.
"No way, jerk. My bucket list for marriage would be ruined." Joy retorted, kicking him under the desk. Sungjae oddly stares at her, muttering. "It's not like I wanted to spend my life forever under you, twat." He complains, earning a glare. "Don't give me that glare, since it's true."
Pursing her lips, Joy can only nod. "Then what? Should we continue the marriage?" She looks at him, as Sungjae awkwardly lets the silence fill in. "Well...", "See. You're also against it!" Joy slams her fist, pointing at him. "Do anything to convince our parents to ruin this marriage." She demanded.
"You know that you'll end up disappointing your mom, right?" He pushed over. Joy sighs in defeat, crossing her arms as she mutters. "She really likes you to be my husband."
