I walked out of Victoria's Secret, my new work place, and drove my way a couple blocks down to Main Street, where Jamal's apartment was.
I'm not finding any 442 Main Street. Am i reading this right, or did he give me a fake address!? I wondered.
"Hello?" Said a familiar voice.
"Hey Jamal! It's Selena. I'm having some trouble finding your place. Can you help me out a bit?"
"Sure. It's a brown building. It should be pretty easy to see."
I was beginning to become frustrated. I looked at the note again.
"Jamal. I don't see any 442 Main Street anywhere. I've drove around for about an hour. There are no brown building, just cute little houses."
Jamal laughed into the phone.
"Selena, it's 942 Main Street. Not 442 Main Street."
I stopped the car and looked closely at the note. When i realized i had made a mistake, i laughed.
"Well, you have very shitty hand writing." I replied, jokingly.———
"There is no way you did all of that in just one night!" I laughed. We were sitting on the couch, catching up, while our favorite childhood show was playing quietly in the background. We had completely forgotten that we were watching it. We have gotten so side tracked on re-connecting that we had spent hours on the couch, only getting up for the restroom.
"I swear! Man senior year was crazy for me." He was laughing so hard, i could barely understand him.
There was a very awkward silence for a second, we both had to catch our breath.
He eventually broke it by saying, "What about you, Se? How was your senior year?"
I was silent for a moment. That was a very rough time for me.
"Well," I sighed, "senior year was definitely an adventure. I made new friends, actually hosted my first high school party, until my parents busted it."
We both made a chuckle, until he saw me look down at the cheap wooden coffee table in front of us, with popcorn and a pizza we ordered.
"Oh my... I'm so sorry. I completely forgot." He said rubbing my arm trying to comfort me.
"No," i looked into his eyes, "It's totally fine. It happened last year. They wouldn't want me to be sad all the time."
He took his arm off me, and there was once again, an awkward silence.
"On the positive side," i cleared my throat to clear up the air, "our football team finally made it to nationals."
We both laughed. Our football team was the worst. I can't remember ever winning 2 games in a row, other than that year. Northern James High is, and always has been, horrible at sports. The only sport our school is remotely close to being good at, is volleyball. Well, i might be a little biased because i was the captain of the Lady Hornets Volleyball Team.
"So what are you doing now? Like where do you work? Are you going to college?" I asked.
"I'm currently working at the car company, and no, i don't plan on going to college." He responded with a little sigh at the end.
"How come you moved back to Springfield?"
"To be one hundred percent honest, i missed this place. I missed the people, the environment, just everything. I mean, i had tons of friends, you know? At my dads, i basically had to restart my whole life. Disconnect from everyone i ever loved and knew," He paused and took a breath in, "including you."
I was puzzled, lost for words. I could feel myself blushing and turning red. Great. Another awkward silence.
I looked at my phone.
"Oh my goodness! It's already 11pm! I have to leave. I'm meeting Liam and his new girlfriend for breakfast in the morning." I rushed and grabbed my keys and purse.
He gave me a quick hug and i ran down the steps to my car.
