"No, mom, I'm fine. Yeah I'm eating. No, they're fine too. No. Yeah I know. Me too. Okay. Tomorrow? Sure," you were rolled in a ball in an old, crusty velvet chair, arm around your knees and staring at your bare feet. Talking to your mom always upset you, you missed your family so much. But Dean insisted in closing yourself off from those around you so they couldn't get hurt.
"I love you too, mom," you pushed your hair out of your face and smiled a little into the phone. "I promise to be safe. Yeah, tell them I miss them. Okay, bye momma." You ended the call and put your phone to your side, face in your knees.
"Y/n," you heard a husky voice staring down at you. You didn't lift your head to see who it was; you knew.
"Yeah, Dean?" You tried to keep yourself from sniffling, despite the tears that had already stained your pajama pants.
"Are you alright?" It was useless to hide anymore, he could read you like a book. You looked up to him with red, teary eyes and a fake smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Dean reached out a hand to help you out of the chair.
"Liar, what's wrong?" You shoot your head and exploded your feelings to the older Winchester.
"I just miss them, Dean. I know I'm doin the right thing being here with you guys, but I miss seeing my family everyday." You stares down at your feel again, shy to be vulnerable in front of him.
"Look at me, y/n," he lifted your chin to catch your eyes in his, "I know how hard this is. But it's a dangerous gig. They'd only find your family if we kept driving home every weekend." You sniffled again and rubbed your eyes.
"Come here, kid," Dean pulled you into a hug by the shoulders, wrapping his strong arms around your petite figure. You stood in his embrace and cried into his chest for what seemed like forever.
"You know, you're never really that far from family, kid," you looked at him confused.
"How?"
"Because you, me, Sam; we're all family," he held you tighter and rested his chin on your head.
"Thank you, Dean."
