The morning breeze of that winter brought nostalgic feelings. And even though there were a few rays of light, he felt cold, even that little innocent laughter was not able to provoke any pleasant feeling in him. Park Jimin sighed, letting his breath mingle with the cold breeze.

"Sometimes you have to grow up suddenly." That man said, and Jimin looked at him seriously. The young man had seen during these last two years how his father's face had begun to wrinkle, as his father grew old little by little. The older man smiled, but Jimin had learned over the years that sometimes people smiled without feeling it.

"It's not my mission, it's not my duty." Jimin observed how a few meters away from him his mother smiled as she looked at the sea. But he realized that his mother's eyes were tired, and even though it wasn't his fault, he felt guilty. Could he have been a better son?

"Then whose duty is it, Jimin?" He turned his head to look at his father. His eyes had become sadder a little more.

"Of him." His voice sounded cold. Jimin felt that he was being forced to do something he didn't want, that he was being punished for no reason.

"You know perfectly well that he isn't there, my son." Jimin's father rubbed a hand over his face. "You know how he has always been, we all knew that this would happen sometime."

"But we didn't expect for him to leave." Jimin replied, his voice breaking a bit at the end. "Dad, I can't do this, it's not my place."

A hand was placed gently on Jimin's shoulder. "I really feel bad for asking you this, I know it's a big responsibility." His father swallowed. "But believe me, I wouldn't ask you if I thought you weren't able to do it, to do it better than anyone else."

Jimin looked at the ground. "If I can't take care of myself, how am I going to take care of a little girl?" His eyes travelled to that little girl, only 2 years old and she was already alone in the world.

Jimin's brother had always been a rebel, and everyone criticized him, saying he should behave more like Jimin. That made Jimin laugh because he wanted to be like his brother in many ways. He wanted to live without feeling afraid, he wanted to be free from all the bad things in that world. Even so, Jimin's brother ended up having a baby, a baby he left behind, and the one that two years later was handed over to Jimin's parents as if it were a non-valuable object.

Jimin nodded his head, thinking that he would regret that decision and that he would fail. His father's eyes gleamed, smiling and thanking his son. They both walked towards the beautiful black-haired woman. Jimin looked at his mother and nodded, which also caused her to smile and to tear up. At that moment, Jimin felt his mother's arms around his shoulders, and he didn't hesitate to hug his mother's waist, hiding his face in his mother's hair. "Mom." Jimin whispered. "I'm scared."

"It's okay to be scared, my baby." His mother whispered, breaking the hug.

Jimin looked at the little girl who was clutching his mother's skirt. Small black eyes looked at him, pale skin, though not too much. Rounded cheeks and a plump lower lip. Jimin put his hands in the pockets of his coat, realizing that each time it was getting colder. Even so, he sat on the sand of the beach where he was, his eyes at the height of the girl's ones. "She looks like him."

"She looks like you too. You and your brother are the same." His mother answered.

The girl couldn't look away from Jimin, without knowing it, she felt a great heat wave coming from Jimin, just as he felt it from her. What they didn't know, is that that heat wave was called security.

Jimin pulled his right hand out of his pocket, extending it. The little girl examined Jimin's hand, a hand that seemed really big, at least compared to her small one. He extended his fingers, the tips were red because of the cold. Sweetly, he caressed the little girl's cheek, and she, surprised, turned her head to the side. The little girl closed her eyes, feeling happy to feel Jimin's hand on her cheek.

Quickly, she pulled Jimin's hand away from her face and put her small hands on Jimin's cheeks. Which surprised him. The little girl put her nose against Jimin's one and brushed it against his. Jimin's mother laughed. "She's giving you an Eskimo kiss." Jimin's parents smiled, embracing each other. But Jimin couldn't take his eyes off the little girl and the signed papers that declared that that girl, was now, legally, his daughter.
