The Player

Chapter 3

"Oxfam"

That night, I must have fallen asleep very late because I didn't even remember walking into my bedroom. It was morning when I woke up and made my way into the bathroom. I did my usual routine, washed up and brushed my teeth. Back in my room I changed into my school uniform, a black blazer with black trousers, a white t-shirt and a grey tie.

I poked my head under my bed and pulled out my school books and shoved them into my bag.

Downstairs I grabbed a cereal bar and munched it down hungrily. A note lay on the dining table.

Danny

Just went out with your father and Ash, don't wait up for us, go straight to school. I left some

change in my old jacket. We'll see you after school.

Love Mum xxx

Typical. Ash Miller. Again.

"So class" Mr Clinton called, "Mr Peterson asked me to write down your lots work experience placements. I want each one of you to call out where you are going to do it."

He read the register in order.

"Macdonalds," Liam snickered.

"Subway," another person called out.

"Danny?" Mr Clinton said.

"Oxfam"

Kane started laughing.

"Haha Oxfam? Lol who'd want to do it there?"

I rolled my eyes,

"Whatever!"

"No no class, Danny's chosen a great place. Universities and colleges love students who volunteer in Charity shops,"

I smirked at Kane.

"Beat that idiot!"

"Oi! Who you calling an idiot?!" He yelled.

I was sitting in my room, when Ash chose to walk in.

"Ever heard of knocking?" I questioned.

He shrugged and sat down on my bed. I quickly logged off Facebook and turned to meet his eyes.

"Mum wants you down for dinner in a few seconds,"

I nodded, trying hard to ignore his presence.

We sat there for a few seconds in silence. He looked rough, as if he had just ran a marathon. The bags under his eyes were suddenly visible. His skin a deathly pale.

He finally stood up and walked out of the room, shutting the door calmly as he left.

Weird or what?
