Maverick, Camryn, and I were leaving for god knows where in fifteen minutes. Theo stopped by the apartment to smother me in hugs and kisses. He also put my bags into the truck bed for me, then he proceeded to tell me to be safe, look both ways before crossing any streets, message him when we arrive at our unknown destination.

"Yes, Theo, I got it. I'll tell you when I take a sip of water too." I reply dryly. He glares at me playfully and pulls me into his chest, his big paw on my lower back.

"I'm being serious Peyton, I just want to make sure you'll be safe." He kisses my forehead.

"I know, but you have to calm down. I'll only be gone for two days," he groans.

"Two days too long." I chuckle and kiss him. "When you get back, you're all mine, sweetheart."

"Oh I planned on it." I tell him. And with one last tender kiss, Camryn says goodbye to Mateo and then we climb into the truck with a waiting Maverick.

Two hours. . . Camryn and Maverick were arguing over something so pathetic as to every time I tried turning the radio up, Maverick would subconsciously turn it down so he could continue his heated conversation.

"Arby's is way better than Wendy's." Maverick stresses for the hundredth time.

"No! Wendy's has way better deals than Arby's, they also have the best french fries." Cam salty replied.

"Okay! Enough! We still have to be in the same vehicle and if I hear one more debate about fast food restaurants I'm going to lose my shit!" I snap. They immediately quiet.

"Where are we going Mav?"

"Since I'm scared to not tell you now. . ." He says warily, "we're going back to our hometown. Just to see everything again, the high school, the park, the old house." My mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water.

"I haven't been back home since. . . Forever." I say, Camryn squeals happily.

"I love the small town we come from! Remember Al's? Literally the best cheeseburgers known to man kind." She exclaims. It was true, everyday after school we'd either go there to eat, or to just hangout. It was popular for teens.

"Of course we remember, how could you not? I wonder if it's still open," Maverick thinks out loud.

"It better still be open, I've always wanted to bring my kids there," Camryn suddenly closes her mouth and I turn my head from my seat to look at her.

"You've been acting funny lately Cam, what's going on?" I decide to ask, her eyes immediately welled up with tears and I turned to completely face her. She let out a sob and covered her eyes with her hands.
