[ arlen's pov ]

Red. That was the last thing I saw before I was enveloped into immense darkness. I don't know what happened. I was just staring out of a dirtied old window and next thing I know something comes flying at my face and I'm out like a light. I don't know what it was. All I know was that is was either the color red or it just had the color red on it.

I can't see anything, though I can hear and feel everything. I'm hyperaware of it all. I could feel coldness against my bare arms, I was most likely laying on the ground/floor. I could hear whispers, people talking. I couldn't make out what they were saying but judging by their nearly silent whispers, they didn't want anyone to hear.

Suddenly I heard a door swing open, and the whispering stopped. I heard barely audible footsteps walking towards me. I could hear the footsteps coming closer and closer until they finally ceased right next to my head. I could feel the person's..or creature's..body heat radiating from its legs.

The person (or creature) bent down, putting its cold fingers against my neck, probably checking for a pulse. Next thing I know I feel something scraping against my neck, like a claw or nail or something.

"Wake up, Arlen." The voice whispered yet growled at the same time. I felt as if I've heard that voice before but I couldn't figure out where.

I tried very hard to open my eyes but I couldn't. I also tried to open my mouth to speak but I couldn't do that either. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain against my face and my eyes jolted open. My vision was slightly blurry and hazy but I could still make out a figure right next to me, most likely sitting on their hind legs. I shook my head a bit and I could feel my vision coming back slightly. I looked up to the person next to me and audibly gasped.

Why was he here? Was he the one who attacked me? So many questions were running through my head as I stared up at the Red Witch. I quickly glanced around me, realizing I was still inside of the convenience store, there was a broken window and glass all on the floor.

"Why are you here?" I whispered out, still in shock.

He looked a bit reluctant, but eventually he stared down at me and said, "You're in danger, Arlen, but not just you, I am as well."

I was confused. What in the world was he talking about? Why was he telling me this? "Why are you telling me this?"

I saw a flash of anger in his eyes as he growled lowly in his throat. "I'm telling you this because you're the only person in this God forsaken town who can stop the evil force that is slowly making its way to this town right this very second to destroy the both of us and whoever gets in the way of that."

"What the hell are you talking about?! You're more powerful than me! Not to mention, why the hell you of all people would care about something destroying the town and the people in this town when you've already done that!" I felt so furious right now, who was he to ask for my help when he's done nothing but harm people, including me, and stalk me!?

"Look, Arlen, we'll get more in depth about that first thing later, but as of now, I'd like to let you know that I'm only telling you this because you're the only damn creature in this town that doesn't piss me off all the time and I'd kind of..enjoy if you'd stay alive, I don't give a damn about anyone or anything else in this town."

I could've sworn my heart started to beat a little faster and my cheeks started to slightly heat up at that. What was wrong with me? Getting all flustered at that? At him? This is possibly the dumbest thing to get flustered about, in my opinion.

Before I could open my mouth to say anything more, he gave me a glare, as if warning me to..just not ask, that he didn't want to talk about, get more in depth about it. I respected that. I didn't say anything more. I just slowly got up from my position on the cold, hard floor. My back ached.

I turned back to the Red Witch, in hopes he'd explain what was to happen next. He stared right back at me. "I'm going to follow you back to your house, I'd appreciate it if you don't question anything until we get there. I promise I'll tell you everything you're probably dying to know." He said, immediately turning around afterwards and heading straight for the door, which was broken by the way, considering he used it the completely wrong way.

I silently followed behind him. Once we made it out of the store, I took the lead and lead him to my house. I was silently hoping that that weird demon thing was gone by now, considering it'd be kind of awkward if we got there and there was a random demon waiting for us.

We continued to walk along the old path, covered in gavel and tiny sticks, making my feet just ache. I was highly relieved when we finally made it to my home. I was little bit hesitant on opening the door, which I hope the Red Witch didn't notice at all.

As I opened the door and walked into my eerily dark and quiet house, I was relieved to notice no demon awaiting my return home. I quickly waltzed into my home, the Red Witch right behind me, and plopped right down on my couch. The witch sat down right next to me, like right next to me, our thighs close to touching.

I was so busy focusing on his closeness that I almost missed it when he said, "So, where shall I start?"
