JULIA POV:
For the next few weeks, Andy and I put the plan into action. We act like a couple and tell everyone we're a couple, even though Lily and Alice know it's fake. Andy seems to be fine with the holding hands and quick kisses on the cheek when Remus is watching, but this whole plan is eating me from the inside. Not only does it feel wrong to be with Andy like this, but it feels wrong to be trying to make Remus jealous.
"This plan is totally working," Andy whispers to me one morning as we come into the Great Hall holding hands. I risk a glance towards the Marauders to see James and Sirius glaring at me with a tinge of disappointment. I move my gaze from them to Remus who's staring angrily at his book, trying to pretend he's reading, but his gaze stays in the same spot so I know he's not.
I sigh, then say, "This feels wrong." Andy gives me an annoyed look.
"Jules, I care about you. And the only reason I'm doing this is so that you can be happy. And if this plan works, I can guarantee you will be happy with Remus." I smile at my Ravenclaw friend, kissing him on the cheek softly.
"You're the best," I tell him, then skipping over to the Gryffindor table. I sit next to Lily and Alice, who regard me happily.
"The plan is so working!" Alice squeals, sipping some pumpkin juice.
"Yeah, this morning we heard them talking about it...Remus sounded pretty pissed." The thought makes me smile, but also frown.
"I'm happy it's working, but I don't like seeing Remus unhappy..." Lily rubs my back soothingly.
"When this is all over you'll feel great, I guarantee it." I give my friends a weak smile as I bite into a piece of toast only half-heartedly. Then I get hungry and start shoving things into my mouth left and right.
"How charming," Marlene Mckinnon comments as she passes us, and I glare at her with a mouthful of food as she waves at us.
"I swear, that girl must sleep in the Room of Requirement every night," Alice comments, "she's never in our dorm!"
"Maybe she comes in late every night and wakes up early," Lily suggests, flipping through the Daily Prophet absentmindedly.
"I doubt it," I mutter darkly, taking a big gulp of pumpkin juice before wiping my face with a napkin. "Plus she's just a complete arse, I'm not going to assume good things." Lily suddenly spits out her juice all over Alice, who screeches, which draws just about all the attention of the Great Hall.
"Lily!" She cries, rubbing frantically at her stained robes. I'm looking at Lily, though, who is staring at the Prophet with wide eyes. I slowly scoot over towards her and gently take the Prophet from her hands.
Several Muggle Borns Found Dead
I gulp, looking at Lily, who's reading over my shoulder.
Voldemort has struck again, this time targetting all the muggle borns in Edinburgh. Believed to be the work of his forces, who have recently been identified as 'Death Eaters,' it is clear that it is no longer safe for muggle borns in the wizarding world. We advice those who are to be careful, to stay off the streets. It's become a dangerous world out there...
I had to stop reading after that. I notice I was clinging onto Lily, and now several people at the Gryffindor table were watching the two of us. That was it, it had finally happened. It wasn't safe for Lily and I anymore; we were both in danger.
"I-It's okay," I soothe Lily quietly, putting on a fake smile so people will stop staring. "This'll probably be over really soon. They're probably just trying to scare us..." Lily just shakes her head, heaving a sigh.
