Chapter 42:

The tension in the room was unbearable. Is that his ex-girlfriend or are they friends? So many thoughts run through my mind.

"Where the hell have you been?" Cassie screams.

"I-I left." Luke says.

"For gods sake I thought you were dead my whole damn life. I thought you were gone. I had no one." She continues. He turns away ready to walk up the stairs.

"Are you actually leaving right now? Again. The first time you've seen me since we were kids you have nothing to say. You walk away like it's nothing? No explanation? Your just gonna leave me standing here looking pathetic? Actually I won't be considered the pathetic one here. You are."

"I'm sorry. I just don't feel like explaining. This is too much for me."

"Too much for you? Too much to explain? Really, I haven't been able to live my god damn life because of you. I would've been in college right now, and having a boyfriend right now, I had a future planned ahead of me. I was put in an orphanage and you don't even bother to give me a phone call?"

"I haven't been able to live my life either I left because I'm a monster. A wolf? You think that's good for me? Every full moon I turn into a beast. I had a girl who I loved, so much. And she died because of me. She died because I didn't protect her because I was too busy watching over you making sure you were okay. I cared for you. I loved you and I still do. But you're not the only one who hasn't lived, I know everything that happened in your life because I protected you and I didn't want you to know what I was back then because you were younger. I told you now cause you've seen it before. And from what I've heard you've got our mothers abilities, am I right?"

She doesn't say a word. "You're right. I'm sorry.. I'm just so damn mad at everyone and everything i was homeless for awhile until Marcella saved me. Things happened that you don't know. You don't know everything and I'm glad right now because it wasn't good and it haunts me to this day."

"Whatever it was I'm sorry." Luke says.

"I missed you." She says and tries to fight back tears but it doesn't work. Tears flood out of her eyes. I nod at Luke to comfort her and he does. He wraps his arms around her, and tells her he missed her too and loves her. He told her he'd explained and they went upstairs together.

"Daddy?" I hear a quiet voice from behind me.

"Yes honey?"

"Do you think things are gonna get better?" She asks.

"Since you've been here they have already."

"No."

"What?" I say in confusion.

"With everyone? I feel like something bad is gonna happen. The stories you've told me about all of this.. I just think everything is going to go well for awhile and then something bad is gonna happen. It's repeating over and over again, I'm just scared what if something happens to you?"

"Nothing will. I'm safe." I don't know that for sure but I don't want a bad thought in her head. She already has some and she shouldn't be worrying at such a young age.

"Okay.."

"Go watch some T.V. before we leave to go visit Anna." I say. She nods and sits on the couch. I sneak up the stairs and listen behind the door.

Luke tells her about why he left, and what happened to his parents. Supposedly they had different dad's. Luke was born first apparently, and his father and their mother split after she had Luke. They were never married. Soon after their mother found a different man (Cassie's father). Once she was pregnant with Cassie, Cassie's father found out that her mother was cheating on him with Luke's father. Javier was known a lot more back then, then he is now. He told Cassie's father about their mothers abilities and after he killed him. After that their mother and Luke's father stayed together, and the three of them disappeared. Luke first because he was bit and turned into a werewolf at a young age and their parents after him because they were running from Javier. She began crying once she heard about her father. Luke told her that their mother was still alive but he didn't know about his father. It got to the point when it was her turn to explain everything that happened. She told him about her best friend Dakota who had raped her and how Sabrina hated her and everything that he didn't know about. "Don't say anything but Anna told me how she was raped.."

"W-what? Please don't-"

"Hold on I didn't even finish. She didn't even know the guy and I was wondering if you knew who it was? Or if anyone found him? Because she's carrying his child." She asks.

"Oh.." He sighs with relief. "No I don't know. None of us do. Don't ask any of them because they get sensitive about that topic." He lies.

"Well I'm glad that we told each other everything." She says.

"Yeah me too.." He sighs.

"There's nothing else you wanna get out there? And I wanted to say starting today no more lying to each other. Today was a truthful day and I want it to stay like that." She says.

"Okay." I could tell that he feels pain and guilt. I go back downstairs and sit on the couch and when they come back downstairs they ask what we've been doing and I say watching TV. Izzy gives me a look and I look back at her signaling her to stay quiet. She smiles and keeps her mouth shut. When they leave she giggles.

"What?" I look at her.

"Were you.. Spying on them?"

"No that's rude and I'm sure you know I wouldn't do that. I was in the bathroom. Eavesdropping isn't good."

"You're so nosy, you're lying. If you were in the bathroom why didn't you go to the one downstairs?"

"A good workout walking up the stairs. Stop being lazy."

"Eavesdropper." She laughs.

"Oh really?" I start tickling her and she laughs so loud and I laugh with her.

We all arrive at the hospital, and we do the same thing we always do when we visit. We talk to her for a bit, each one of us. Since there was an addition; Cassie. It took a bit longer and she told Anna about what happened with her and Luke today but I decided not to eavesdrop this time.

One of the people who worked at the desk who was rude to Izzy and I approached me. "I've been watching you guys everything time you come in.." "I was wrong to say you weren't fit for the role of a father. I hope your girl wakes up soon and I hope she is fully recovered. I think it'd be nice to see Isabelle to have a mother to look up to." The women says.

"Thank you I appreciate it a lot for your kind words, adopting her was the best decision I've made in my life, she's brought me happiness." I say truthfully, I put my hand on her head of hair and mess it up a bit and she complains.

"Daddy, Cassie did my hair before we came here, you messed it up."

"You'll be fine." I laugh.

We all go home and Cassie asks if she can stay to get out of that cave house she lives in, an we all agree. Everyone falls asleep and I decide to do what I always dreamed of doing with Anna. I sat on the roof and watched the stars, wondering what it'd be like if she was here next to me.
