Katsumi found herself occasionally stumbling, getting scratches and bruises. She was definitely thrown off.
'Stick together Kat.' She warns herself, narrowing her eyes at the hoards of goblins.
"Is it just me, or do the goblins seem more, prepared then yesterday?" Gray questions Katsumi, covering her back, holding a sword made of ice.
"Hm." Katsumi mutters. "So I guess it's not just me then."
Gray pierces through another goblin as it explodes into dust in front of him. "That's weird, ne?"
Katsumi nods, her head spinning. She had lied to Gray early in the morning. She knew the poison had taken a bigger effect then just weakening her immune systems. For some reason, she felt lightheaded, but she couldn't just let everybody else do the work.
Gray, noticing the slight decrease in Katsumi's speed jumps to her side. "Hey, Katsumi, are you alright?"
"Of course I am." Katsumi answers too soon, immediately regretting it as Gray sends her a worried look. "It's nothing, I'm just thrown off my game today. Don't worry."
A light tinge of pink spreads over Gray's cheeks as he shifts his eyes to the opponent. "Okay. Just be careful."
A small giggle escapes Katsumi's lips as Gray's blush deepens. "Aren't I always?"
"Never." Gray answers in a joking tone as he chuckles with a smirk. "You're never careful, Katsumi."
Katsumi forms a small joking pout while slashing goblins in front of her. "What does that mean, Gray?" She whines in a higher pitched voice, pouting at Gray, who couldn't help but look away.
"N-nothing!" Gray exclaims, his face as pink as Natsu's hair. "Just, nothing."
Katsumi inwardly laughs as she continues slicing away at the incoming monsters. Sure, she prefered to work alone, but working with other people was more fun.
"I bet I can kill more then you can, Gray-kun!" Katsumi shouts eagerly, dodging various attacks. "Wanna bet?"
Gray smirks, his earlier pout twitching into an arrogant smirk.
"What do you get if I lose?" He asks, swiping his arm down into a smaller goblin attacker. "It has to be equal terms here."
"Hmm... You have to take me out for ice cream hey?" Katsumi exclaims, her childish voice ringing in Gray's head. "And if I lose-"
"I get to take you out on a date somewhere, and I'll pay for it." Gray blurts out, a blush covering his cheeks. His eyes go wide as he realizes the words that escaped his mouth.
"Date?" Katsumi mutters, a blush also covering her cheeks. "A-ahaha Gray. It doensn't seem fair ya know? I mean then shouldn't I pay if I win?"
"Absolutely not." Gray argues, a stubborn frown on his red face. "And it's even. If you win, then it's just icecream, and if I win, then it's a day together."
Although the words sounded extremely cliche, he couldn't help it. He didn't want anything else, except to spend some time with his friend.
His friend that he was drawn to, attracted to, and in the the end, he liked her. Alot.
"Alright, Gray, deal." Katsumi smiles warmly, a glint of competition in her eyes. "We begin, now!"
Both charging off with a burst of speed, the two leap into the crowd, swords out. With a clean slash, Katsumi destroys a front wave of goblins.
Gray on the other hand summons an ice bow and begins shooting away with ease.
"I'm going to win this with my smarts, Katsumi!" Gray shouts, a victorious smirk on his face.
