ethan
fifteeni watched as she grabbed the cart, her long brown hair bouncing on her back. she turned herself and the cart around, with the biggest smile on her face. it of course made me smile like an idiot. she was just so contagious with, everything. her laughter, her happiness, her innocence. it somehow even made me slightly less vulgar around her, even if me rubbing off on her has made her more vulgar. she was a crystal ball of glass in my hands and i didn't intend to break her.
"so," she started, catching my attention. "what was the trick up your sleeve?" i grabbed the cart from her and we walked into the first aisle we saw.
"you'll see sweetheart."
"you know, i hate it when you do shit like that," she laughs, looking up on me. maybe i have rubbed off on her more than i thought.
as she looks around the shelves i stand on the bar attached the the cart, and use my other foot to go forward. grace gives me a strange look making me smirk.
"the look you're giving me feels like you're calling me fat?" i raise my eyebrow as she busts out laughing in response. "fat shaming hurts grace."
"you may not be fat but you obviously don't have any common sense," she giggles. i pretend to be offended and scoff. "but come on e, we need to get the bandaids and get out of here."
"oh sweetheart, i didn't get a cart for just bandaids."
"what could you possibly need?"
"you."
"shut up." grace snickers and rolls her eyes.
"what? it's true!" her cheeks turn a bright red, causing me to smirk in satisfaction.we continue to shop, even though we really didn't need anything. we went down every single aisle, me following grace with an empty cart in hand. when we reached the alcohol aisle, she hesitated. "we don't have to go down here, we can skip this one."
"sweetheart, we wouldn't want to break the streak of us going down every aisle would we?"
she sighs and walks into the aisle. there weren't any people down this one since it was literally two in the afternoon. she continues to walk as i grab two 12 packs of beer and put it in the cart. when she heard the sound of glass clanking, she immediately whips her head around.
"ethan, what do you think you're doing!" grace exclaims. she's giving me the reaction i figured she would have, but the hurt on her face did hurt me. "you're too young ethan." she whispers.
"another first?" i crack a smile, but she still frowns at me. "grace it's all gonna be fine. all i want is for you to live a little. plus i'm responsible with this stuff believe it or not. i'm not going to let anything happen to you." i grab her chin and lean down so her forehead is on mine. "i'll never let anything happen to you." i whisper and kiss her, our lips parting, molding into each other's. she pulls away, causing me to groan quietly.
"i trust you." she says simply, the words coming out of her red and swollen lips. and with that, she walked away.

we were in the checkout line, literally about to get checked out, when i remembered we never got the bandaids. of course, ethan managed to remember alcohol but couldn't remember to get what we came here for.
"i'll be right back," i rush, and before he could ask where i was going, i was already gone. i speedily walked to where the bandaids were. my mind was racing with what ethan was going to get me into. i couldn't help but sigh. without even thinking twice, i slipped a pack of bandaids into my sweatshirt pocket, along with my hands.
"all i want for you is to live a little." if living a little made you feel sick to your stomach, and your hands sweaty, i don't think it's that worth it. yet i walked back to the checkout where ethan was, to see him with a big brown paper bag in his arms. he was walking towards the exit, looking around. i walked through an empty checkout, and he eventually saw me, a smile spreading across his face.
"hey, i think i know you from somewher-"
"we need to go." i kept walking, and i walked right out of the door, ignoring the greeter. i hear ethan say "have a nice day," to him, but i keep walking. i persistently walked until i got to ethan's truck and got inside.ethan eventually did too, closing his door, and putting the bag of alcohol in the back. he didn't put the key in the ignition, he instead just sat there.
"what did you steal?"
"how did you know?"
"because you're freaking the fuck out for no reason."i pull out the box of band aids out of my front pocket and hold it in my hands.
"my little thief." ethan chuckles.
