Prologue.

A nerd that fall in loves with a popular girl? Cliché, I know. She was his dream. A long time dream to be exact. A dream that will never came true. Well...that's what he thought.

What if si popular girl din pala may ay gusto kay nerd? At nauna pa siyang magtapat kaysa rito. Ano kayang mararamdaman niya?

Will he finally accept the possibility of him and her despite how their lives being so much different?

Si Luris mahal si Cindy, matagal na, kaya lang hindi niya maamin kasi di hamak na Nerd lamang siya ng school nila. You know that one student who always with their books, big eye glasses and old fashioned hair style. Samantalang si Cindy...popular, the apple of the eye, maraming nanliligaw pero ni isa wala siyang sinagot.

Isang araw sa gym ay nag kasalubong sila. Si Luris hindi niya alam ang gagawin niya, samantalang si Cindy naman nagawang ngitian siya. Sa ginawa na 'yun ni Cindy ay nakaramdam siya ng kakaiba sa dibdib niya, parang di siya makahinga. They both passed each other, with him secretly smiling because of happiness.

The next day habang nagbabasa si Luris sa library ay may biglang umupo sa tabi niya. Hindi niya ito binigyang pansin kasi baka one of his school mates niya lamang iyon na aasarin nanaman siya na makabagong Jose Rizal. Wala siyang panahon na makipag away.

Kaya lang ay biglang nagsalita ang katabi niya. And hearing her voice, he immediately froze in his sit.

"Hi!" Bati nito. Nakangiti.

"Uhm...hi." He nervously said. Inayos niya ang kanyang salamin.

Sandali namang nagkaroon ng katahimikan sa pagitan nilang dalawa. Awkward pero ayaw niyang umalis. Katuwiran ay minsan lang mangyari sa kanyang buhay ito.

"May sasabihin sana ko sa'yo..." She break the silence with that. Kinabahan naman siya. Mag papaturo kaya ito ng assignment?

"A-ano 'yun?" He tried his best not to stutter but obviously he failed.

He saw her blushed. And he bit his lower lip to stop himself from smiling. She looks so cute looking so red in front of him.

"A-ano kasi Luris...g-gusto kita. Gustong gusto talaga kita." She confessed, mas lalong namula. Natulala naman siya. He heard her right, right?

"W-What?"

"Sabi ko gusto kita. Okay, alam kong nakakahiya kasi ako yung nagtapat. Pero kasi hindi ko na kaya eh. Gusto talaga kita." Muling pag tatapat nito.

Hindi naman siya makapaniwala sa nangyayari. Is this really happening? Hindi ba ko nananaginip? Totoo ba talagang may gusto siya sa'kin? He thought. Feeling himself as red as her.

And that moment he decided to man up his feelings. Time na rin siguro na umamin ako sa kanya. Wala namang mangyayari kung itatago ko pa ito.

I like her too...so much.

"I like you too." He blurted out. Pinag papawisan kahit malamig naman sa library. Ang bilis ng tibok ng puso niya. Hindi niya alam kung paano sisimulan ang lahat but he chose to start with the truth. "I like you too...so much. Dati pa. I am just scared to be rejected kaya hindi ako umaamin sa'yo. Sino ba naman kasi ako diba? Walang wala akong kumpara sa mga manliligaw mo."

"R-Really?" Cindy asked, hindi rin makapaniwala sa narinig.

"Yeah. Sorry kung ikaw pa ang nauna na mag tapat kaysa ako."

"That's not a problem. Wala naman tayo sa makalumang panahon para sundin ang nakaugalian. Woman now days can woman up now for her feelings, she have the right to confessed to the person she liked. It's not always the guys who made the move, you know."

Tumango naman siya. And for the second time, silence took over them again.

"So...what are we now?" At katulad kanina, si Cindy rin ang bumasag ng katahimikan. He really sucks at starting a conversation.

"Huh?"

"What are we now? I confessed and you also confessed. What made both of us now?"

"Uhm..." Is he ready for a  relationship?

"I don't want us to be friends, Luris."

Napatingin siya muli rito. Seryoso ang mukha ni Cindy, like her eyes speak for her feelings. "I want us more than that."

He looks confused for a moment. "You want me to be your bestfriend, then?"

Natawa naman si Cindy at nilapit ang sarili sa kanya. Bumilis lalo ang tibok ng puso niya. "No...more than that." She whispered. He can feel her hot breath against his lips. Mas lalo lamang siyang kinabahan. Halos hindi na siya makatingin ng diretso rito.

"Super best friends?" He tried again.

Umiling ito. Nakatingin lamang ng diretso sa kanya.

"Super super best friends?" He continued to guess on even if he really knows what she really wanted. He's just taking his time to think. Parang ang bilis kasi ng mga nangyayari. Yes, he wants to be with her. To be her boyfriend but he wanted to know her first. Like really know her personally.

He wanted to start their relationship with friendship.

Because he believes that when you start something out of friendship perhaps taking it to a next level like love. It will grow stronger than those people who started in fast pace. Friendship, if you know how to take care of it and treassure it in the process, it will never break. It will just grow stronger and stronger that even if you take risk like this, it will not easily collapse when you two became broken.

And he wants a love that last forever, life is too short for some kind of ludus love.

"Luris, you know what I am talking about."

Tumango naman siya. A lazy smile appeard on his face. "We're maybe in the mutual understanding stage but I don't want you to be my girlfriend...yet." Tinapos niya agad ang sasabihin dahil nakita niya ang sakit sa mukha nito.

"Why?"

"I want to court you first, okay? I want to know you better and it is the same for you. While I am courting you, know me well. Know everything about me, the one you like and the one you hate about. I want us first to start being friends."

Natahimik naman ito sandali at pagkatapos ay dahang dahang tumango. Bumalik ang mga ngiti sa labi. He felt relieved.

"You just gave me more enough reason to like you." And she held his hands. Intertwining their fingers. "If that's what you want, then okay. It's better than not being with you."
