A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.
Yoko Ono,
So, there I am standing in the psychiatrist's office, I walk the edges of the office, checking the various degrees, certifications, and pictures that plaster the walls. Dr. Tallith,"I wonder how it's pronounced" I thought.
About half an hour passes and I am still walking the room. No one has entered or even knocked on the door.
"Where is this fucker?" I thought impatiently.
"Fucking court ordered bullshit" leaves my lips in a whisper. The door creaks open.
"Well now, who are you? I didn't have an appointment today" Says a tall man in a business suit, checking his phone. Light grey hairs pepper his beard and thick hair. I would estimate his age being mid to late forties. Fine age lines show in his face and a confidence of someone his age resonated. His eyes were a light blue, almost grey in color which can be piercing depending on his gaze."What do you mean you don't have an appointment? That is what the court told me!" he carries on with his phone as if he didn't hear a word.
"Well then I'll be off. I didn't really want to be here anyway." A small uncomfortable smile shows in the corner of my mouth. The man looks up from his phone.
"Court ordered you say?" He checks his phone one more time "damnit I thought that was tomorrow. I am Dr. Tallith."
"well I don't have to guess how to pronounce it now." I thought
"Well I was told today." I said. He looked at me skeptically.
"someone must have fucked up I guess, they should have handed you a slip to give to me." He said, impatiently waiting for proof.
I reach in my pocket and produce a small yellow slip of paper. He takes it and looks it over for a little while then piers at me over the slip.
"I see, you're the one I've heard about. I don't have much time today but I will let the court know that you did show." He paused for a breath"We can have a small discussion if you like?"
I look at him a bit to "take measure". I begin to take notice that he carries himself like an asshole know-it-all. "Definitely a doctor, surely a good one." I thought.
"Well, you're the shrink, and I don't want to be here! Court ordered and all that." I scoffed.
Laughing he looks me up and down. I'm guessing he was measuring me like I did him.Who knows what all this shrink could see but it wasn't the best side of me to be sure. I have to admit I looked a mess. My hair was combed earlier but the wind messed it up since I left the window down on the drive here. My clothes were probably all wrinkled from being in a rush to get out of the door on time, I grabbed the first things I thought were clean. I'm sure I looked like I hadn't slept in a week, because I hadn't. I am in my Mid-thirties looking like a bum, dirty dish water hair, as my mom would call it ,no deep wrinkles yet, tall slightly above average height. Of course, I hadn't slept in a few days, hence the court case against me. Honestly a misunderstanding ,but it definitely looked bad.
"Well you sure look the part." the Doctor laughed at my expense of course, it pissed me off. He must have seen the anger in my expression because he quickly went on to add "I am not saying you did anything or didn't do anything, we will find out what can be done in any case."
"What's that supposed to mean." I snap.
"Take it easy killer!" he says laughing "It says here that you were found dazed ranting at people about being ambushed."
