The way to their destination was a bit troublesome since the nure's car wouldn't start, and no taxi nor uber driver would have Shawn enter the vehicle.  So both had to walk for a while since the nurse kept on refusing to leave Shawn alone. But eventually they made it to Waffle House by the time it was noon. As to be expected, however, all customers left the building at the sight of him. Even a couple of employees left, claiming that it was their lunch break and wanted to eat somewhere else but here.

Shawn was used to all of this behavior of everyone keeping their distance from him in order to stay safe. He didn't blame them and sometimes wished that Alex did the same so she would be living her life away from him. But that would have gone against her personality entirely, one of the things he loved and hated the most.

With only three people still working, the nurse felt the unsatisfying quietness that loomed in the air. She was far beyond from getting comfortable as Shawn and her picked a booth with a clear view of the television. The nurse just watched the one in front of her starring at the display of the machine, not creating any big deal of what occurred.

She just couldn't help but hate how normal Shawn acted with these strange behaviors and wanted to understand. No one would tell her anything of how and why everyone became afraid of this man. Not even the world wide web would have any sort of information which frustrated her dearly. Maybe being with him she could get some kind of answer as to why the world was so different for one person. And If things go well, she might finally decide of how she truly felt around him.

"Anything interesting on?" She asked, hiding her hesitation in her words by grabbing a menu.

"Not really, just NBA highlights." He answered without tearing his eyes off the screen.

"Then why don't you find something to eat?" Annoyance slipped through her lips.

Hearing her tone, Shawn faced the table with worry. He didn't want to be rude to a person that would actually talk to him, but he couldn't just say nothing.

"I... I won't be able to pay for any of it."

She didn't mean to but from his words that flooded the tone of hidden pain, she couldn't help but freeze. We're seriously so scared to be around the guy that everyone he went to refuse to employee him. Now her confusion and wanting to understand was becoming hate towards individuals all around her.

"It's-it's fine, I don't mind paying for your breakfast."

"Really?"

The way his face lightened up from his expressionless appearance warmed her heart. This made her want to savior the smallest hint of joy in his soul, but she also needed to find answers.

"Of course, but why don't you have any money? Are people that senseless to employee you?"

And there the light diminished as his eyes looked away from her. He just grabbed a menu to make it easier to keep his eye contact away from her's. Shawn didn't really find the question comforting, but if it was trust she needed from him then it really wouldn't hurt. He after all needed to see if she could give him some kind of sign of what he has been missing.

"You know the Lovitzs."

"Uh, yah..."

"Mr. Lovitz came to my job years back and tried to get me to sign the papers to kill Alex. I do me said 'no' and turned my back to him, wanting to just work without being bombarded with his pleads. Sadly that's when my... mistake happened. He said things in front of my boss which lead to my down fall. And right there on the spot I got fired. I guess it ended up being a good thing because that allowed me to be by Alex's side."
