"What is Depression?"
Depression is...
Your eyes burning because you can't find the motivation to blink.
Your hair tangled into knots, The motivation to take care of your body, No longer there.
Your grades dropping, Not even trying anymore.
Lack of sleep, Insomnia.
The struggle of getting out of bed.
The daily thoughts of wishing you were dead.
The voice telling you you're not worth it.
Barely saying a word every day, More quiet than you've ever been.
Never really eating your food, "I'm not hungry".
There's no joy in things you enjoy anymore, The happiness is gone.
"Isn't that just sadness?"
Now let me tell you. Depression is hell. Depression is like being stuck in a never ending spiral, One that stufocates you, One that make your fingernails bleed at the attempt to escape such a thing, One that keeps you surrounded by darkness until finally you give up.
They're gone, And what did you do to save them? N O T H I N G
The scars on their arms didn't tell you anything? "She said the cat did it"
Those scars are deeper than a cat ever would do.
You should have helped.
You.
Should.
Have.
Helped.
You knew there was something wrong, And you continue to believe their lies. But if you look in their eyes, They're pleading for the help they can't ask for.
You should have helped.
