PART TWO:
Chapter one:
“Wait, Kacey, he’s still alive! Please! Niall he- “
Kacey stopped listening. She tuned back in a moment later.
“Look, read it for yourself! Come down from there! It’s alright. He may not be gone,” Erica explained.
Kacey did as she said without words and without protest. She stepped down from the gallows and Erica outstretched her arm. In her grip was a small black object possible containing all the secrets Kacey needed to know. Kacey reached her hand out and took it from Erica. She gasped when she saw it was Niall’s phone in her hand.
“You dropped it after our - interaction. I - I saw what you were reading...”
Kacey read on. “I want to be loved by you the way I thought I was before. I want you to make me feel the way I did before I lost my best friends. Too bad you won’t get the chance... If you want this back, you must love me. I will be here forever. I will be where it all began.”
What? She asked herself. Where what began? Where did it all begin? Where was she to go to regain his love and trust? She would go across the world if it meant to have him back in her arms again. She thought to herself for a moment. There were so many places he might be. Maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t that far away.
She looked up and met eyes with Erica. Erica just stared back and knodded, knowing Kacey wanted to go find him. Kacey knodded back and ran off back to the campus. Did he mean the biology room? That was the first place that flashed in her mind, it was the first glimpse she ever caught of his lovely blonde hair.
She dashed to the bio room, empty at this hour of the day. She stepped inside the doorway and looked around, behind the tables under the chairs. He was nowhere to be found. Where else could he be?
She thought back to all the times they spent together. She ran to her dorm, where he first told her he loved her. He wasn’t there either. She locked up the door again and thought harder. She ran down the street to a restaurant where they first talked, after biology class one day, everyone went down there and that’s where they met. She opened the door, and it was dead inside. He wasn’t there either.
She went inside and ordered something to drink and sunk down into a booth alone. She put her hands in her face and racked her brain, trying to think of where else she could look for him.
The little pub down the street. That’s where they had their first date. She finished her beverage and darted further down the street. Her feet hit the ground to the rhythm of the music in her head. She slowed down her pace, she had been running all day, at it was starting to get late. She breathed heavily, holding her sides from cramps. The place was too far, she would never make it at this hour and in this condition. She slowly walked back to her little apartment. She would have to go in the morning. Hopefully he loved her enough to wait for her.
When she got back to her house, it was night time and she fell asleep easy. But the haunting visions of what came next, she would always remember.
The dream started out foggy at first. The mist began to clear very slowly until a shape was barely able to be made out. The dark form of a man stood amidst the fog and debris. The clouds cleared more and the true shape of the man was finally revealed. He stood in chains in what seemed like a dark, humid, wet cavern. Water dripped on his head, and he stood, unable to do anything, his hands and feet bound. He just simply stood there, his head hung, until a rumble from further down in the cave made him lift his head. It was Niall.
A soft glowing light came from a dark black passage in the cave. It proceeded to come closer. As it rounded the corner, the form came into focus. It was a large, floating, ghost-like, substance that took the shape of a woman. She floated closer to Niall with a menacing smile. As her eerie form crept forward, a tear fell from his eye. He waited, a pained look on his face.
