2: Rose

I'm running through the crowd. There only only one thing going through my mind. Screaming yelling at me that I'm the only one who can do it. I need to save him I don't know who or where he is. He needs to be alive.

The sound of buzzing forces me into consciousness. I look around my surroundings trying to remember were I am. My half awake half asleep mind prevents any sorta revaluation. The buzzing stops as I look to see Rose. I suddenly remember what happened last night.

After telling Rose and Jackie what happened. They let me stay with them for a while till I can find  place. I know I should be filing a report or having James arrested. But after all the times I've tried he somehow finds a way out. He somehow gets out of those things.

I sleep on an extra mattress on the floor in Rose's room. "Gertrude you awake," Rose asks. "Yeah," I reply with little smile. Rose looks at me and smiles back. "Would you like to shower cause I can give you some cloths," she offer's with a smile.

I nod "yeah that would be nice," I say.  Although I showered last night I need to keep my wounds clean. Rose smiles and walks to a dresser. "Well You're in luck cause I just bought a new thing of underwear," she pulls out an outfit for me to wear. "You can head in first," she says while handing me the cloths I smile and nod.

I get up ignoring the seeding pain in my ribs and head to wear I assume the bathroom was. I get inside and look into the mirror. I gasp at what I see. My once healthy young face looks aged and sunken in. My arms and face filled with bruises. I look away not able to look at myself anymore.

I get in the shower and start to wash myself carefully. The hot water burning my back feels nice. Distraction me from the pain in my ribs. I soon  get out knowing Rose has places to be. I get dressed and head I to the kitchen seeing Rose and her mum Jackie.

"Rose the shower is open," I say.  There attention turns to me and Rose gives a small thanks and runs to the bathroom. I stand awkwardly in the corner "come In love have seat," she says towards the table. I nod and do soo. I sit at the table talking to Jackie or more like nodding to her gossip. I don't mind though it makes me happy to here.

Rose had to go to work so it was just me and Jackie all day. By the time Rose had gotten home she looked shaken up. The phone goes off and Jackie starts talking on the other side. "The whole central London has been closed off as police... " the telly goes off I look at the building gathering up what I hear Jackie say and the telly say.  "Were you there," I ask shocked. Rose nods as the door to the flat flies open.

"I've been phoning your mobile. You could've been dead. It's on the news and everything. I can't believe that your shop went up!" a man enters and immediately heads towards Rose. "I'm all right, honestly, I'm fine! Don't make a fuss" Rose tells the man. "Well, what happened?" the an asks. from the amount of care he shows I assume he is her boyfriend. "I don't know!" Rose says obviously frustrated with him.

The man turns to and looks at me confused. "who is she," he asks while studying my appearance his face turns t one of pity. I shuffle in my seat uncomfortable by the sudden attention. "that's Gertrude she was running from someone and were letting her stay for a while," she says. She looks at me and introduces the man. "Gertrude this is Mickey my boyfriend," she says pointing at Mickey. Mickey gives me a warm smile and looks back at Rose.

I pick myself from the couch and decide to call it a night. "Rose I think I'm gonna call it a night," I say softly she nods and goes back to talking to Mickey. I start walking and call to Jackie "night Jackie." Jackie turns to me from her phone call "night love," she says and immediately turns to her phone call again. I get to Rose's room and collapse and let sleep take me.
