Minghao woke up extra early, it was a monday and tomorrow will be his surgery.

While eating breakfast he would cough up the petals from time to time but it wasn't as bad as before.

Once he walked into his classroom his teacher and classmates greeted him.

"Good to see you Minghao!" The teacher greeted. He smiled back at her and went to his seat.

Seokmin tackled him into a hug while Mingyu high-fived him.

"We all missed you, and Jun" Seokmin winked.

"Shut up" Minghao rolled his eyes playfully.

It felt nice to go back to school with his friends, soon he wouldn't have to worry about his hanahaki.

During lunch he sat down at the usual table. He noticed that Jun would glance at him from time to time be he shrugged it off.

'He probably feels bad'

Minghao ate his lunch happily and chatted with his friends, other than Jun.

The day passed so quickly, soon Minghao was getting ready for bed.

Before he went to bed he coughed up a few more petals and soon drifted off to sleep.

Minghao had to call Sooyoung and tell him that he will be absent today.

"Soonyoung hyung" He called out once he picked up.

"Hey Minghao, what do you need?"

"Ill be absent today because im gonna be getting the surgery" He heard a gasp from the other end.

"Really?! Wow Minghao, are you sure about it though?" Soonyoung wanted to make sure he wouldn't regret it.

"Im sure" He smiled a bit.

"Okay, good luck Minghao!" Soonyoung hung up.

Minghao scrolled down is contacts list and pressed on Jun's contact.

"Aish" he ruffled his hair in frustration.

"Call him you idiot" he pressed on the call button.

It took a few rings until he picked up.

"Hello?" Jun's voice made Minghao's heart beat quicker.

"H-hey Jun, you left your jacket at my house last time" He facepalmed himself for shuttering.

"Ah~ okay, ill get i-"

"No Jun, ill bring it to you after school. At our usual park. Okay?" He heard a sigh from the other line.

"Okay"

"Im not going to school today." He finally made up his mind to tell Jun.

"Why?" Jun asked, a bit of worry in his voice.

"n-no reason, I gotta go bye!" He quickly hung up amd threw his phone on his bed.

"Hoshit, I chickened out" he whined.

"Soonyoung!" He turned towards the voice that called him.

Jun

"Yeah?" Soonyoung questioned as he saw how heavily Jun was breathing.

"Why isn't Minghao gonna be here today?"

"Oh! He's gonna get his hanahaki removed" Jun froze in shock.

'No!'

'I like him though'

'shit..'

Jun didn't reply as he quickly ran out of the school and went towards the doctors office.

"Is there a patient here named Xu Minghao?!" Jun quickly asked the receptionist.

'I can't let him lose feelings for me!' (man that sounds kinda selfish but okay jun go save your manz)

"Hes in room 305" Jun quickly ran off, not bothering to reply to the nurse.

He arrived in front of room 305, when he realised he was too late.

A sign in front stated, 'In surgery'.

"fuck" He stomped his foot on the ground.

He sighed and left the office.

'Might as well wait for him in the park'

After a few hours Jun spotted Minghao walking to the park.

He waved his hands and motioned Minghao to come over.

Minghao smiled at Jun and jogged over.

Jun noticed something different.

Other than his hanahaki being gone..

His smile didn't seem as lovingly as before..

"Hey Jun!" Minghao's voice sounded better than before, not as raspy.

"Heres your coat! Thanks for taking care of me the past few days" He handed Jun the coat.

Their hands glazed over eachother for a moment, usually Minghao's face would turn red and giggle, but he seemed normal.

'fucking surgery..'

"Hey Minghao?" Jun called out before he could walk away.

"Yeah?"

"I know its too late, but I like you too" Minghao's smile dropped.

"I know you got the surgery already so you won't be able to see me the same anymore, but I just wanna tell you" He smiled painfully.

Minghao started to cry, the tears rolled down the younger ones face.

"This is all your fault Jun!" He sobbed as Jun engulfed him into a hug.

"Im sorry" Jun mumbled as he patted Minghao's back.

"Now your too late" Minghao looked up at Jun with his red puffy eyes and walkd away.

"I know im too late" Jun's eyes watered as he sat down on the empty bench.

He watched Minghao walk away, he then started to get cold so he put on his jacket.

He felt something inside the pocket so he took it out, the box that Minghao gave Jun for christmas.

He smiled lightly and opened it.

A bracelet was neatly placed in the box, with the name Junhao on it.

He took out the bracelet and inspected it, his tears didn't stop.

He looked under the bracelet and saw words engraved in it.

bestfriends forever! Junhao! maybe we can be more than that soon <3

Jun smiled and wiped his eyes, he put the bracelet on.

Suddenly his throat started to itch.

He coughed a few times and a few petals fell out of his mouth.

"shit..."
