It was the holiday season at Hogwarts. Everyone was having a good time at the yearly holiday party. People drank egg nog, told stories, shared laughs. All was cheerful. And then something happened. The small brunette, generally referred to as Hermione, had gotten pushed under the mistletoe by Harry, him being the 'jokester' he is.
A blonde haired boy, Draco, saw the opportunity to be a jerk to the girl and went over. Of course, being oblivious, he didn't notice the green plant she had been standing under, until Hermiones eyes widened and she looked up and then at him. The pale face of the boy reddened when he realized and the whole party went quiet. The sounds started up again when a certain teacher cheered. That caused an eruption of cheers, and boos from a very small amount of people.
Time stopped for the pair, neither moving, neither hearing the noises of the other people. Hermione scrunched up her nose and started to turn, but this wasn't a normal party, it was a party at Hogwarts, so of course the Mistletoe was enchanted. She sighed. There was no getting out of this one. Not even if she wanted to.
Draco took a deep breath and looked down at her. "How do we do this..?" Hermione shrugged and fiddled with her hands. "We have to I guess..." She looked up at him with her big, hazel eyes, a light blush covering her face. She stepped a bit closer to him, the cheers quieting into hushed whispers. Draco's face still reddened, and he stepped closer as well.
She pecked his cheek in an attempt to break the hex in the least embarrassing way, for the both of them. But that's not how it worked apparently. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves and stepped even closer, and started to stand on her tip toes. She could feel his breath on her face, and as much as she hated to admit it, she didn't mind that it was him.
Draco hesitantly set his hands on her waist and pulled her a little closer. Hermione's face was very red. The sounds of gasps from the crowd sounded like silence to the two of them. She closed her eyes, he closed his. He leaned down closer. He was honestly happy it was her. He'd liked her for a bit of time now. But still, this was a bit awkward.
When their lips touched, it wasn't with force, but a certain softness. She couldn't help but feel, happy. She leaned in a bit more, ignoring the gasping of the crowd and the shouts from Ron. Draco honestly felt sparks from this. He was kissing Hermione Granger. A girl he'd liked for some time. And ha, that Weasley didn't get her this time. He smiled against the kiss and pulled her closer. It felt like an eternity, the amount of time they stood there, holding each other. But soon, too soon, they pulled away, Hermione blushing like mad, Draco somewhat cocky, but with a red flush painting his own cheeks.
Hermione was grinning a bit too much. She heard Ron yelling angrily. Sucks for him. Draco was grinning too, his pale face looking more like a tomato. Hermione's face was just as red. They were the red pair.
"I believe, this indicates we should go out sometime," Draco said with a snicker as he looked at Ron, who had literal smoke pouring out his ears. "Do you agree?"
Hermione's face reddened a bit more. "I don't think that's a bad idea." She smiled at him, and ignored Ron. Draco smiled too. "I'm glad that you don't."
Draco held out his hand and gestured towards the dance floor, pulling Hermione with him into a waltz. This night had not been as bad as Hermione thought it would be.
Hermione put her hands on his shoulders and he put his hands on her waist. She smiled more and rested her head on his chest and he rested his head on top of hers. The dance floor had parted for them, but was slowly starting to fill again.
This night had been perfect. And as the pair slowly swirled around the floor, she couldn't help but smile as they passed the little sprig of mistletoe. The crowd closed in then, and blocked the green plant from sight, but she still chuckled as she thought of everything that had just happened.
Draco smiled wide. This was the perfect holiday. Everything that he wanted he got. He looked down at the girl and sighed happily. He noticed Ron freaking out off to the side and being comforted by a laughing Harry. What a year..
