Aphmau's POV
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care. There were decorations throughout the house and outside. I was decorating the Christmas Tree while listening to music.....Christmas Music.
"And there, finished. Not to toot my own horn but I did a good job." I said while getting off the step stool I was using. "Ah okay, now that the tree is finished I need to start getting the snacks ready for Garroth's on Christmas Eve. I really should make a list before this becomes a headache." I sighed and walked to the kitchen. I pulled a pen and a pad of paper out of a draw and started to make a list.
"Let's see...cookies....pumpkin bread...presents....aww man that's gonna need a whole sub category under it for everyone we need to get presents for." When I was finished writing down the things on my paper the doorbell rang.
"Coming." I yelled as I ran to the door to see who it was. I opened the front door and it was my mom.
"Hiii mi hija, look at you!" She smiled broadly.
"Momma." I replied as she walked into my home.
"Well look at you! Your looking spunky! Here I wanted to drop this off, it's Eric's super secret strawberry puff recipe." She said handing me an envelope.
"Oh, he actually wrote it down." I said pulling a piece of paper out of the envelope and looking at it.
"Yup, thrust me it took awhile to convince him to do it. He wanted to make them for everyone this Christmas Eve, but this mini trip to go and see his youngest son needs to be relaxing and I don't want him to lift a finger."
"So he thrusts me to make them?" I asked. "Ha ha, I'm honored."
"Katelyn is making back up ones just in case. Let's just say he thrusts no-one with his puffs not even me." She chuckled.
"As expected." I giggled. "By the way do you need any help in watching the place while your gone?"
"Naa, we're gonna be back Christmas Day to spend it with everyone, but thanks for offering Mi Hija."
"Anytime." I smiled.
"By the way how's Aaron doing?" She asked.
"Oh, he's fine." I quickly said. I looked back at the stairs and then back at my mother.
"Weell, I gotta get going." We hugged and she walked out the door.
"I'll see you later, good luck with the pups!" She yelled as she walked away.
"And no worries mom how hard could it be...cookies are my specialty." I looked back at the recipe and went back inside my warm house. I put the recipe in my pocket and went up the stairs to check on Aaron. I saw him sitting on the bed holding his guitar. He was tuning it.
"Hey." I said to get his attention.
"Hey." He said in a heavy, gruff voice. "Who was at the door?"
"My mom, I thought you were asleep what are doing awake?"
"I don't know. Got a bit restless. I wanted to try and play again." He said sadly. We continued to talk for a little while.
*Time skip to a little later that day*
I heard the doorbell ring and I turned to Aaron.
"Ugh..who is it now?" I said.
"I don't mind getting it." He said sweetly.
"Na, you stay here and keep playing. I'll get the door." I said getting up and walking down the stairs.
My mom was at the door again.
"Heeeey." My mom said.
"Hey mom." I replied. "Again." There was a young girl standing next to my mom and her eyes were budging out of her head.
"Is everything okay?" I asked, I was nervous on how the girl was acting.
"Oh yes everything is fine." She cleared her throat. "Sorry for dropping in on you, again, but I wanted to ask you a favor." Her voice sounded weird.
"Sure." I said happily. "What's up?" I gestured them to come in. They both came in and I shut the door behind them.
"Allow me to introduce you to Renee, she's a distant cousin who came and I helped her out this morning. Her parents passed away awhile ago and I was hoping the could stay with you for Christmas. Well just until I come back from visiting Eric's son." She explained. "She has spent a few Christmas' with me."
"She has, why haven't I met her before?"
"I forgot to mention it. I didn't want to drag her with me, so can she stay here?"
"I...auh...you." I looked over at Renee and she had tears in her eyes. How could I say no to that. "I mean.." I glanced up the stairs and saw Aaron.
"It's sudden notice but it's okay with me." Aaron said from the top of the stair case. "We'll have to fix up the guest bedroom though."
"If it's not an issue then..." I strayed off.
"Please Aphmau. It's so important for Renee and she deserves it. It's my wish she gets to spend Christmas with her family." My mother concluded.
"I'm fine with it mom. She's more then welcome here. I'm sorry I was just caught off guard by the sudden request. Renee was it?"
"Yes, it's such a pleasure to meet you." Her voice was soft and quiet.
"Ohh, she's polite, a pleasure to meet you too sweetie. Come on in. Do you have any bags or anything?"
"I..didn't bring anything." Renee said.
"Oh." I said startled.
"Remember Renee Aphmau was nice enough to take you in. Be a good girl and treat Aphmau and Aaron like your parents." My mom said and my face went red.
"Mom!" I squealed.
"It's good practice so, bbyyee!!" She said running out the door, I closed it after her. I turned back to Renee.
"Don't worry about treating me any different." Renee moved closer to me and hugged me. I was startled but I hugged her back.
