Beam took a step back as the fiancé drew nearer, not wanting to get in the way or make himself suspicious to the other man. He glared from behind Forth, annoyed that Forth had to marry someone he didn’t have any feelings for.
Wayo walked quickly up to Forth, hugging him round the neck as he got close. “Forth~ It’s good to see you!”
Beam glare deepened as he saw Forth freeze up at the hug and quickly looked away, not wanting to see.
Forth coughed slightly and pulled Wayo’s arms away from his neck. “It’s good to see you to, Wayo.” He tried to sound truthful as he said this, the words feeling like dirt in his mouth.
Wayo blinked up at him before pouting. “You still use that nickname for me?” He prodded Forth in the stomach. “Call me Nong Yo.”
“Beam…ya?” Forth looked around quickly at Beam, wondering about his reaction.
Beam winced, somehow feeling jealous about the thought of someone else being called that by Forth after only just being able to be called it again himself instead of ‘Amy’. He shook his head and walked off, leaving the engaged pair to themselves feeling that he had no business in what Forth called his fiancé.
Forth blinked as Beam walked away, wondering if he’d done something wrong and decided to try and redeem himself. “But Wayo is a good name for you.” He smiled trying to act sincere before realising something. “Wait, you said ‘still’? We haven’t met before.” Forth frowned; looking Wayo up and down, wondering if they’d met before.
Wayo pouted again, pushing Forth slightly. “How mean! I used to come round here all the time.” He stood back and turned around, arms outstretched. “You don’t recognise me? Though I must say I’ve probably changed a lot since you last saw me.” He smirked, trying to act seductively.
Forth tilted his head, looking Wayo up and down again, completely oblivious to the flirting. “You used to come here a lot? I really don’t remember you, sorry.”
Wayo sighed, annoyed. “I was a friend of August’s. Our fathers made me come here a lot, you know, for ‘better relations between the kingdoms’.” He walked back over to Forth, and reached out, stroking Forth’s face. “Just like our marriage, I guess.”
Forth coughed again, pulling his face away, annoyed enough to stop acting and say what he really thought. “If you were a friend of August’s, that’s probably why I don’t remember you. I wasn’t exactly fond of most of them.” He stood up straighter, trying to show his authority. “I’m glad we’re on the same page then, about this being purely for an alliance and nothing more.” He stared at Wayo, defiantly. “And believe me if there is any way I can get out of this marriage, I will.” He walked off then, deciding that he couldn’t waste any more time here, especially not when he had to find Beam and make sure he was OK.
Wayo stood blinking. “No one rejects me, especially not like that.” He put his hands on his hips and made a small ‘huff’ noise. “How could he not even blush when I was playing around? That’s just rude!” He jumped as someone behind him answered his rhetorical question.
“Maybe because he has someone at the moment?”
Wayo looked around, startled and annoyed. “I was talking to mys- oh it’s you.” He flicked his hair, one hand still at his hip. “You were listening to all of that?”
August grinned back at him, leaning against a tree that was close by having obviously been eavesdropping behind it. He cleaned his sword as he spoke. “Of course I was listening. This marriage is amusing to me.” He looked Wayo up and down. “So where’ve you been hiding? I hadn’t seen or heard of you in ages, not until the proposition that is.”
