Chapter 1

I woke up when I heard a piano playing.

From afar I can recognize already the song Canon in D. My most favorite piece to play in violin. And then I saw a man playing it in our living room.

Papalapit ako ng papalapit sakanya pero di pa din niya ako nililingon maybe he can’t notice me because he is too attached to what he is playing. And when I was about to touch his shoulders, there was a loud knock outside my room!

Napabalikwas tuloy ako. At sa labas ng pinto dinig na dinig ko yung sigaw ni Ms. Lucy. Kahit na ayoko bumangon, babangon pa din ako at baka masira pa yung pinto.

Pagbukas ng pintuan tama nga ako. "Hoy Sunny kelan mo balak mag bayad ng renta ha? 2 buwan na ang di mo nababayaran. Ano ang balak mo? E kung lumayas ka na lang kaya? Nalulugi ako sayo. Hoy wala nang libre ngayon."

"Ms. Lucy 1 buwan pa po. Wala pa po akong part-time job na nahahanap itinigil ko na po yung paglalaba na sideline ko dahil buntis po ako." nakayuko kong sabi. Syempre may galang pa din naman ako sa nakakatanda at isa pa ako na nga tong may utang e.

"Wala akong paki kung buntis ka! E aba lumandi landi ka tapos yung hanap buhay ko idadamay mo. Aba may 3 anak akong dapat mapag aral. Hanggang bukas na lang ang ibibigay ko sayo. Kapag di ka pa nakapag bayad lumayas ka." kung di lang matanda to pinatulan ko na to.  Yes I wanted to get pregnant in a right time and right man for my baby. But everything went wrong. Wala siyang alam kaya wag niya akong masabihan ng malandi pero syempre di ko sinabi yan like what I said may galang pa ako sa nakakatanda.

Bumalik na ako sa kwarto pagkaalis niya. Pero di na ako makatulog kung bakit naman kasi ngayon pa niya naalala yung utang ko. Kaya ang ginawa ko nag ayos nalang ako at kumaen na muna dahil nagugutom na ako as usual pag preggy ka malakas ka kumaen.

6AM pa lang naman makakahanap pa ako ng mas maliit dito sa apartment na inuupahan ko. I have no choice but to find a new and cheaper one. Kung hindi wala kaming mauuwian ni baby mamaya.

I decided to bring my things for school kasi baka mamaya matagalan ako sa paghahanap.

I check the list of apartments in my journal. When I came here in the Philippines and searching for a place to stay, I’ve listed all the apartments that I’ve found. Good thing I’ve listed them because I didn’t expect that I will encounter these unfortunate events. Bad things happen unexpectedly so it is better that you are always ready for a battle.

I went first to the apartment next to our street.

Hinanap ko agad yung owner dahil baka mapakiusapan ko to sa presyo. "Madame sige na po pumayag na po kayo sa 1500."

"Naku iha kahit gustuhin ko hindi papayag ang asawa ko. 2000 talaga kasi ang isang kwarto. Pasensya ka na." di bale may mahahanap din akong mura.

After an hour, nakalahati ko na yung list pero wala pa din. At malapit na ang class ko. Pinuntahan ko na agad yung next na nasa list.

And like what I did for the last 1 hour. Looking for the owner and begging to give me a cheaper room.

"Okay sige papayag ako sa 1500 na gusto mo pero maliit lang ito walang kwarto pero may maliit na CR sa loob. Ayos lang ba yun?" sa sobrang tuwa at pagod ko napayakap ako kay nanang.

"Naku! Salamat po! Kanina pa po ako naghahanap e."

"Sige na iha eto na ang susi mo. At marami pa akong gagawin." may naalala tuloy ako kay nanang.

Baby may matutuluyan na tayo mamaya pag pinalayas tayo ni tandang Lucy.

Nasa 3rd floor yung room ko. Sinilip ko muna siya saglit. Medyo madumi kaya dapat agahan ko ang uwi para makapag linis pa ako.

I’m on my way to our room. Well of course while walking in the hallway, all eyes on me. What do you expect? Syempre nag break lang naman kami ng boyfriend ko este EX BOYFRIEND a.k.a. EX FATHER ng anak ko na sikat dito sa campus.

They said that Liam is perfect boy. He is? But that is just a tricky fact because the real fact is he’s a rogue man!

"Sabi sayo mag brebreak din sila e."

"Asa pa siya na seseryosohin siya ni Liam. Duh! E wala siyang binatbat kay Ellise"

"Balita ko si Ellise at Liam na e!"

"Really? They are perfect couple! You know Ellise is a very talented like duh! She can almost play all of the instruments and Liam is super hot!"

"Hey haven’t you heard the rumors? Liam is a secretly vocalist and guitarist of a rising band uhm I forgot the name."

"Gosh! He’s really awe-inspiring!"

Sana maputulan ng dila tong mga tsismosa na to. When I enter the room oh look! A bitch and rogue couple flirting inside the room. Then the bitch saw me and smiled at me "Sunny! Can I ask you a question? What is the feeling being a girlfriend of Liam Nicolas?"

I gave her a sweet smile and simply said "Hell" di pa ako nakakalayo sa devils when suddenly someone grabbed my arm.

"Let go! You’re hurting me!" I suddenly felt nervous. War is inevitable. Indeed. But I’m avoiding it as much as I can! If only I’m not having a baby. Damn I can defend myself from this bitch!

"I’m asking you in a nice and fine way but you’re getting on my nerve!"

"Ahh! Let go! I just answered your question isn’t enough? Aren’t you satisfied? Fine! I really enjoyed being a girlfriend of Liam! Actually we had a oh-so-hot night-"

"ENOUGH!" Liam shouted. Its the cue for me to stop saying what I was about to say. Ellise let go of my arm started to cry. Damn her dramas.

"Sshh! Ellise I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m sorry. Lets go back to our seat and stop making a scene." but a bitch is always a bitch.

"So I am the one-"

"Ellise" matigas na sabi ni Liam. Woah! So tiklop si Ellise kay Liam? Hahaha!

Saktong pagbalik nila sa upuan ang pag pasok naman ng prof namin. Bumalik na din ako sa seat ko pero bigla akong nahilo.

"Okay class good morning! Go to your respected places go!" di ka naman excited ma’am?

"We have a transferred student from France today. And lucky you guys! He’s your classmate for this whole semester!" tss kaya pala kinikilig si ma’am. Well I find french boys hot and attractive based from my experience.

May sinenyasan si ma’am sa labas. A guy with a mousy hair and pierce in his left ear came in. That earring! NO! Aphrodite how could you do this to me? Do you really want a Trojan War part II?!

"Mr. Bonfils please introduce yourself."

"I’m Klaus Bonfils" our eyes met. And this familiar feeling again. No! Di na pwede.
