"Pranks stop at the 30 second countdown to the new year tonight" Jongdae set the rule, that and nothing to cause severe pain were the only rules in place.

And thus begun the New Year's Eve prank war between my guy best friend ,Jongdae, and I. A New Years Eve prank war became our tradition 3 years ago, when he put vinegar in my water bottle. I got back at him by putting sour cream in his pudding. The pranks got more clever between us, and today we are pulling anything. He put flour in my hair dryer, I put food color in the shower. He covered everything in my room with wrapping paper, I turned his room upside down, literally. He oiled the floor, I glued the door. Every prank he did, I had one to hit him back. After many hours of intense pranking, we called a break to clean up. I was basically a 400 degree oven away from being a cake and Jongdae was so covered in feathers that he is now Chenken. Once I was less battered and he was plucked we nodded and began our pranks again. "Remember, we have a hour left" he reminded me before turning and walking into clear plastic wrap I placed when he was in the shower. "I know, and no more messy pranks." I reminded him about that deal before I stepped back onto a whoopee cushion. I glared at Jongdae as he laughed. "May the best one win" we ran off in separate directions.

Even though we agreed upon no more messy pranks, we ended up covered in confetti. "30 second left!" Xiumin called out as people began counting down from 30. Jongdae held out his hand and I shook it. "Good game, and clever use of your rubber chicken earlier" I commented. "Same to you, and I wasn't expecting the honey and feathers" he smiled. "15, 14, 13" everyone counted in unison. "(Y/n)" Chen called my name. "10, 9, 8" they continued. "Yeah?" I raised an eyebrow at my best friend. "I love you" he said with a serious face. "I thought we said no more pranks?" I questioned him. "It's not a prank" he defended himself still with a straight face. "3! 2! 1!" Chen cupped my face and pulled me into a kiss. "Happy new year!" Everyone shouted cheerfully around us. Jongdae and I pulled away after a moment and our eyes met. "My New Years resolution is to ask you to be my girlfriend" he smiled. "Then mine is to say yes" I smiled back and pulled him in for another gentle kiss.
