Chapter 4

NINA'S POV

Two months. It had already been two months since that so revealing talk between Aphrodite and me. My situation was already quite uncomfortable considering that the possible love of my life was dating a complete idiot who barely gave her time, and I fell in love with her every day.

It was shit.

Anyway. I can't say that during that time I was fine because honestly it tortured me to know that Daniel was the one who hugged her, caressed her and above all gave me a tremendous desire to hit him just thinking that he was the one who tasted her beautiful and tender pink lips. But as I promised to myself, I would never do anything to interfere in their relationship.

I wouldn't forgive myself for ruining her happiness and putting her world upside down.

I don't know how it happened. Maybe it was by accident or pure luck or whatever. Only Maya was in my mind. Upon awakening. When I sleept and even in my dreams. And the problem was not her presence in my thoughts, but her absence in my reality.

Still, I must admit that being in love with Maya was a really beautiful feeling. And, to my bad luck, my feelings were so intense that one afternoon Emily noticed.

"When are you going to tell her?" she asked me.

I jumped a little, for I was distracted by looking at a picture of Maya that I had taken days before without her noticing. I snuk the shot of her while we were in class. She was looking at the board with an expression that reflected concentration and serenity. She looked very beautiful.

"What?"

"What do you mean?" I tried to avoid the quiestion nervously. "Tell who what?"

"Don't try to hide it Nina, it's obvious that Maya drives you crazy."

"No, you're wrong, I don't like her"

"Really? So, I suppose it's very normal between friends that you stare at her, or that you smile like a fool whenever she says something, or that you always accompany her to her house or that ... "

"Ok ok, I get it!" I let out a sigh. "Am I that obvious?"

"Honestly? Yes, you are"

"And how...?" I asked uncertainly.

"I know you Nina, I know how you are, besides, your crush with Maya can be detected by miles"

"Oh god, I just hope she hasn't noticed."

"No, I don't think so but ... do you want some advice?"

"I mean yes" I shrugged.

"If you want to tell her, do it now because there will be a point where it'll be too late and then you'll think 'I wish I had told her sooner'"

"Well, I think you're right" I said resigned.

"Honey," she said with a smile "I'm always right"

We continue talking for a while about nothing in particular. It was a bit refreshing to forget about my problems for a while and enjoy with my friends. It helped me to keep my feet on the ground.

After taking a walk around the park, it started to rain and Em decided to accompany me home to see a movie. But our plans were frustrated by a crying Maya who came running to my doorstep. The next thing I remember was that she pounced on me and kept sobbing while I wrapped her in my arms.
