She stands there, waiting for him as excitement fills up her small body. It's a bright spring day, and everything around her is filled with love and life. The trees are full of flowers and a fresh scent gives the city a dreamy atmosphere.
She spots a bench near the park and decide to sit and wait. She has nothing to do so she looks over her attire. Her gray coat hugs her frame. Her long, wavy curls cascade down her small shoulders, covering her back. A shy breeze plays with her bangs, which succeeds in making her appear cute. Her large doe eyes shine brightly and radiate warmth as she waits for her loved one. She is wearing a long cream colored T-shirt, adorned with a Minnie Mouse on the front under her gray coat, black tights and gray colored ankle boots. Her soft pink lips are dry from waiting every other minute, that she has no other choice but to run her tongue over them every now and then, forgetting about the lip gloss she had applied. Her pale skin radiates once the warm rays of the sun hit her, making her glow and appear younger than her actual age.
The girl sighs and leans back on the bench, slightly bored. Her boyfriend is a few minutes late and she can't call him because his phone is off. Suddenly, she worries, afraid that something terrible happened to him. No way... right?
Just then, said boy appeared on the other side of the street. He stands tall and slim with brown locks and chocolate eyes adorning his face. One of his best traits, in her opinion, would be his Chesire cat grin which could melt a woman's heart. He is wearing a simple shirt, a pair of black skinny beans, boots, and a black leather jacket finishing of his look. Even though he is dressed to the tens, there is something wrong with his expression. As he crosses the street, he sighs and ruffles his brown locks. She can tell that something is bothering him.
The girl jumps up from the bench, a warm smile on her face, and makes her way towards him. The boy stops right in front of her. He towers over her small frame. "Chanyeol oppa, I'm glad you're finally here. I was getting worried," the girl says, as she feels all of her worries disappear.
The boy remains quiet. He sighs and once again ruffles his brown locks. The smile on her angelic face quickly fades and her worries starts to set in again. "Oppa...?" The girl mumbles as she feels a lump start to form in her throat.
Chanyeol finally manages to stare down at her and lets out a heavy sigh. His eyes appear tired; eye bags under them. He wears a blank expression, but his eyes show mixed emotions. Remorse slowly eating at him because he knows that he's about to hurt her. "Seyi-ah, I... I have something to tell you," Chanyeol manages to say with a forced calmness.
Seyi's heart plummets. She can tell that he's going to say something life-altering.
But of all the days in the year, why does it have to be today? It's their anniversary!
Still, she mentally prepares herself for the storm that is to come. "Oppa... what's with the serious face, huh? Come one. Don't scare me," she jokingly says as she lightly hits his arm and forces a laugh out. Too bad that her voice cracks at the end.
"Stop it, Seyi. Please stop!" he begs in the end. His eyes tired and desperate. Seyi freezes when she looks into them. Two chocolate holes looking back at her, void of any emotions. "I'm serious," he says as he takes a deep breath and continues. "I can't keep up with this facade anymore. I can't keep dating you. It's not fair that she and I have to suffer just to keep you happy,"he finishes. The words feel like a slap to Seyi. "It's not fair..." he repeats once again.
Seyi stands there. Dumbfounded and lost.
She? Who was 'she'? Was Chanyeol cheating of her? Or worse... was Chanyeol breaking up with her?
Chanyeol takes this opportunity and continues, "Seyi, it's... I mean... I'm so sorry. It's my fault. I was the one who asked you out in the past...but I ended up falling in love with someone else, and now I'm the one who's breaking your heart. I can't... I don't .... I won't continue to deceive you," he says as he stops to take in air. "Seyi... I'm in love with Sungmin," he finishes in a rush. He expects yelling and some slaps, but they never come. Instead he feels his shoulder slouch.
Seyi is in front of him, a stunned expression on her face. Her big doe eyes are double their size and her once glowing skin now has an unhealthy pallor. The confession he just made kept repeating itself in her mind. A taunting chant gripping her heart and crushing it.
Sungmi?! Her best friend Sungmi? The bubbly girl that was all smiles? Of course! Who wouldn't love her? Chanyeol was no exception. But it still couldn't take away the feeling of hurt and betrayal. Her own friend? What a joke!!
Seyi blinks a couple of times, trying to keep the tears from falling. Chanyeol didn't deserve her tears. He wasn't worth it. Yet, she feels her heart breaking. She needs to leave. NOW!
"Seyi? Are you... are you okay?" Chanyeol asks hesitantly.
Seyi doesn't respond. The reality that she has lost her first, but definitely not her last, love to her best friend of all people is heart wrenching but she decides to not cry. They weren't worth it. She feels her heart becoming cold and decided from that moment on that she will be no ones fool ever again.
With new found anger, and a hint of desperation to get away from Chanyeol, she reaches into her bag and hands over a present to Chanyeol while saying in a cold voice that she didn't know she possessed, "Stop it! I don't want to hear any of it anymore.I guess I never really meant anything to you because you made me look like a fool. But let's get something straight, Chanyeol. That won't be happening anymore. Date whomever you want because I don't care. Just...just stay away from me and leave me alone!" she yells the last part before turning and walking away from the person she loved so dearly. She could hear Chanyeol calling out to her but she continued to walk, never looking back because one thing was for sure: No one made a fool of Shin Seyi.
