When Arya and Gendry reached Castle Black, Arya was more than ecstatic. Meeting Jon again made her feel warm, and Gendry sweat. The wagon stopped, and Arya had to stop herself from springing from her seat. Shireen laughed and smiled the entire way up to the castle doors. "Are we going to see Jon?" Arya asked, just as excited as a toddler. Gendry smiled at her own excitement, but he was nervous to see her older brother. "Maybe. You have to get out now, before everyone dismounts and becomes suspicious of my wagon still being occupied." Shireen talked seriously. It was a big risk to take the pair along with her, yet she had made something rare; friends. Arya and Gendry nodded quickly, and Gendry hopped out. "Thank you. For everything." Arya smiled before scrambling away.
On the way to the castle doors, nobody suspected anything. Arya's hair was still short, so she played the part of an orphaned boy well. As they walked, they bumped harshly into an obese man. "Whoops, Sorry about that!" He called. "Wait!" Arya yelped before he waddled away. He turned around slowly, facing their direction. "What is it?" He asked politely with a smile. Arya didn't plan this through. She was originally just going to ask for Jon, but she wasn't sure how to ask. "If you don't mind, I really need to be getting back to my friends." Sam smiled wearily. Arya was losing her chance! "Ghost!" Sam whistled. An albino dire wolf came strutting towards Sam. "Ghost!" Arya covered her mouth and tugged on Gendry. Ghost looked Arya's way, and considered her a moment. Arya walked up to the wolf, carefully and cautiously. "That's Ghost. Jus' my friend's wolf. He don't bite unless ya threaten him." Arya's eyes widened. "Jon?" She asked quietly. "You know him? He was the only man nice to me my first day here." Sam smiled. Of course Jon would be the only one nice to an outcast. He had been quite an outcast his entire life.. "Are you going to see him now?" Arya rushed. "I am! He asked for Ghost actu-" Arya cut him off. "Can I come? And Gendry, too?" She smiled a sweet smile. "I don't see why not." Sam shrugged. As they walked, Ghost kept close to Arya's side and so did Gendry. "Are you new to the nights watch?" Sam asked cheerfully. Maybe he hoped to make new friends as well. "We are." Gendry said shortly. He was bad at making small talk, but Arya could tell how on edge he was. She knew Jon would approve, though. "How do you know Jon?" Sam asked as they approached Jon's door. "He's my brother." Arya said quietly, quickly walking ahead and pulling open the door. "Bran?" Sam's eyes widened and Gendry chuckled.
"Jon." Arya said simply as she watched him write a letter quietly. He looked up quickly, thinking his mind was playing tricks again. "Arya?" He asked, already knowing the answer. She ran into his arms, causing even the strongest boy to step back a bit. He held her as tight as he could without hurting her. "You left KingsLanding! Why?" He asked, his eyes fierce and hungry for answers. "I didn't have much of a choice. Yorren..He just took me.. Cut my hair and.. and here I am.." Jon had heard of Yorren before. He was a great commander. "You traveled all by yourself? Yorren was murdered.." Jon smoothed her hair in a way her father used to. Arya was fighting the urge to cry, but she was not weak.. she couldn't be. "Not by myself.." Sam and Gendry walked in slowly, Gendry more timid now than ever. "Who is this?" Jon asked, gesturing towards Gendry. "My name is Gendry Waters.. Bastard son of Robert Baratheon. I had the pleasure of accompanying Arya on this journey to find you." He smiled. Arya couldn't help but laugh. "Why are you being so formal? He's just my brother." Arya continued to laugh while Jon felt the urge to smile, but he silenced Arya gently instead. "How did this happen?" Jon asked, pointing between the two of them. "I met her while traveling with Yorren." Arya smiled. "He was the only one nice to me when I first arrived." She budded in, and Sam and Jon started smiling. "Any friend of Arya's is a good friend of mine." Jon smiled while extending his hand for a shake. Their hands fit together perfectly, Gendry's only a bit larger than Jon's. Gendry was smiling ear to ear when Arya ran up and linked her arms around Jon's neck, ready to link hers around Gendry's. "I'm guessing you're tired after a long journey." Jon smiled. "I want to continue talking, but I'm afraid I have wall duty tonight. We can continue our talk tomorrow, Arya. I want to hear everything.. But until then. Sam, please show them their rooms." "One room is fine." Gendry said quickly, completely regretting what he said after all eyes turned to him. "I'm afraid it'll have to be," Sam started. "We don't have enough to spare, in fact we had to bunk many of our men because of Stannis' arrival. We only have maybe twenty left..Stannis has many more men than just twenty." Sam shrugged. "Fine then." Jon smiled. "But you sleep on the floor." He half joked with Gendry. Gendry knew he wouldn't be sleeping on the floor.QUICK A/N
