Dinner

Arya was breathing heavily, relaxing a bit as Gendry laid a large hand on her shoulder. She stared at herself in the dirty, old, reflective surface. She didn't like the look staring back at her, though her soon to be husband admired it.
She felt a certain spark of terror when she realized what was going on. A Lannister, a prime subject from her name of lists, was going to be dining with them. Only hell knew what Tommen was doing in their village.. Just when life began to collect itself again.
"Ready then?" His hoarse voice broke her from her anxious daydream, a quaint smile played on her lips. "Ready as I'll ever be I suppose."
He linked his arm with hers, making their way towards the dining hall of the small castle. Her heart sped up as they crept closer to their chairs. Arya sat down, Gendry sat next to her. "So tense.." He flirted, rubbing her thigh. "Maybe I can relieve some of that stress tonight." He smirked. "Stop it!" She hit his hand away and laughed. He always knew how to make her feel better, in the weirdest way possible, of course.
She had been talking with Rickon when grand horns rang. She wasn't used to the elaborate arrival anymore.. Bloody Lannisters.
Tommen and Sansa walked in. There was a calming energy between them, but Arya couldn't quite understand the feeling. Almost as if Sansa was.. Content?
Tommen pulled a chair for Sansa, who was beautifully done up. Her hair in long braids, fiery orange and sparkling. A subtle highlight on her face made her glow, Arya couldn't help but want to hide her own. She looked over at her lover, examining all of the eating utensils with great interest. She decided she couldn't have been more lucky, despite her rather unlucky features. She grabbed his hand from under the table, receiving a warm smile from him in return.
Arya looked up towards Tommen and Sansa, who have not yet introduced themselves. They were quietly discussing something to themselves. What secrets could they have been keeping..?
After a moment of subtle conversation, Tommen cleared his throat and stood. "Good evening everyone," He spoke with uncertainty, Arya noted. "Umm.. Well.." Arya tried not to roll her eyes, obviously failing. Sansa shot a dirty look.
"Everyone of purity, of Winterfell.. Um. I intend a great deal of pleasure to announce...To announce we are joining our houses.. Once again.. As.." Nobody let him finish. Gasps filled the air.. Bran looked down at the floor in disappointment, and Rickon yelled "Eww!" As for Arya, she couldn't move. The brother of the man that murdered her family's beloved father.. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Gendry's main concern was Arya. "Arya..?" He shook her, but she didn't move.
"Let him finish!" Sansa yelled over the worried voices. Everyone knew Tommen to be much softer than the rest of his family, but he was still Lannister blood. Tommen smiled at his bride to be. "As I was saying.. I'm marrying dear Sansa here out of spite for my mother." Murmurs.
"She killed my true love.. Along with an entire portion of my city.." He shook his head. He continued on with his story. By the end of it, everyone was either satisfied or confused.. Except for Arya.
She stood, the chair flying out from under her. All eyes whipped towards her. "No."
"No.. Okay, well, I know you may be oppo-" she didn't let him finish his sentence.
"No. No way in hell. Sansa, sweet and noble, deserves better. She's not a toy you can use as part of revenge." Arya shot daggers at the blonde Lannister in front of her. "I thought about that. I told her myself, if she didn't want to marry me, I wouldn't force her to." Tommen smiled, satisfied with his answer.
"Of course you wouldn't force her, bloody idiot!" People started giggling, whispering.. "Alright. That's enough, Ari." Gendry took her hand, trying to bring her back down to her seat. She obliged, hesitantly.
"I can speak for myself, Arya." Sansa rose from her chair. "My people of Winterfell.. I do hope you understand and accept all of my wishes. Tommen and I will be very happy together, I can assure you of that. The most gentle of the Lannisters, he will treat not only me, but also you with respect." Tommen gave a warm, genuine smile. "Although it'll take getting used to, we will learn to accept him as part of of family." She looked at Arya as she said her last statement. Arya wasn't having it.
The rest of dinner was tense, Arya wanted to excuse herself so many times, but couldn't bear to process the information on her own. She knew Gendry would be her only coping mechanism, as everyone else seemed fine with the awful marriage arrangement. Gendry only agreed with Arya. He knew her past too well to not have resentment for all Lannisters. Hell, they're probably the ones that killed his bloody father.
Dinner was finished, slowly people were excusing themselves. Arya and Gendry were the last to depart.
"Come along. You're stressed.. You need a massage." Arya looked up at Gendry who was smirking down at her. She shook her head in disapproval, but he swooped her up, running to their bedroom with a giggling Arya in his arms..
