It was a very rainy day in the outskirts of Chicago. She ran along the sidewalk as the wind grabbed ahold of her long, dark brown hair. The sound of rain pattering on her shoulders. The song "Falling Apart" by Michael Shulte was blaring in her ears to block out the sound of the rain. "Faster", she told herself. "You have to go faster".
Madison starting sprinting towards her house as she tripped on a rock and fell. She looked at her knees and immediantly regretted not wearing her knee pads this time around. She stood up and bent down to rub her knees off and continued limping the rest of the way home. As she approached her house she noticed that her mothers car was gone. Madison sighed as she stepped inside the door and the burst of cold breeze from the air conditioner hit her wet face. She sat down on the chair by the door and untied her muddy sneakers. She sighed again. Silence. She realised that no one was home. Mom must have took Kathlyna, her younger sister, to dance rehearsal.
She took her sneakers off and set them by the door. Moms rules. She pulled her socks off and threw them into the laundry basket as she made her way to her room. Once she reached her bedroom door, she stood still. "Dont think about it" She opened her bedroom door and changed into some drier clothes. Once she was done, she laid on her bed and grabbed her phone. She tapped on instagram and her profile popped up. As she was scrolling through her feed she noticed something unusual. It was fairly gloomy and depressing. As she started to pay more attention to it, she noticed a couple had broken up. Aaliyah and Hailey.
Madison knew Aaliyah personally and knew what she had probably done to that poor girl Hailey. Aaliyah was her ex girlfriend. She played Madison and cheated on her several times. When Aaliyah got into this new relationship with this Hailey girl in May, Madison immediantly followed Hailey to keep up on their relationship. They seemed like a great couple, but here and there you would see red flags pop up from Hailey. She would post really depressing things that would make you wonder if this girl was really okay. Madison had been checking her profile out for some time now and realised that she was a fairly attractive girl. Madison had started taking a liking to her just by looking at her pictures. Well, that day, September 16th, was another one of Haileys bad days.
Madison started thinking and built up the courage to text Hailey. Just a simple text.

M: Hi. My names Madison. I know you dont know me but I noticed that you were posting some really depressing things. I just wanted to check up on you and see if everythings okay. If you dont want to answer back then I completely understand.

Her finger lingered over the send button and she hit it. She just sent this random girl a message. At least it was for a good reason. A few minutes went by and she went into the kitchen to get a drink. She grabbed a glass out of the cupboard as her mother and sister walked in the door. Her mom looked at her and said, "Get your drink and go in your room. Im having a few friends over. Your sister is staying with your aunt tonight." Madison knew exactly what this meant. Her mom was going to get drunk. She wanted no part of it so she done exactly what her mother had requested. She filled her glass with ice and got some water from the kitchen sink and walked back into her room. She set her glass on her bedside table and checked her phone. Right as she unlocked her phone, a notification popped up. It was a message from Hailey.
