"What's wrong gattina?" Chris nudged my shoulder, pulling me out of my gaze. I blinked a few times and cleared my throat

"Nothing, just the fact that I was fucking kidnapped you arrogant asshole." I gritted the words out through a scarily calm voice.

His eyes glazed over with what looked like sorrow and pity, but they quickly changed back to emotionless, empty eyes. His jaw clenched like he was imagining biting off my head.

"Don't speak to me that way, do you not remember that you are under my control? I have the capability to get rid of you faster than you could bat your pretty little eyes." His words slithered out of his mouth like snakes, calm, slow, and terrifying.

I gulped.

"Now smile gattina, we wouldn't want Brooklyn to get worried, now would we?" he smiled and looked over to the sweet little girl sitting next to her mother.

Brooklyn turned around and faced me, she had chocolate cake all over her mouth and a huge smile. I tried to clean her with a napkin. She pouted and ferociously shook her head, causing her mother to look over at her.

"Brooky! How did you get cake all over your face? Come on, let's go clean you up." Madelyn picked her up and carried her to the bathroom, I watched as they walked away, Brooklyn licking the cake off her fingers and a Cheshire smile.

I turned around to look at Chris, but he was gone. Carson walked over and sat in front of me.

"Hey, how you holdin' up?" He had a drink in his hand and a wide, toothy, sympathetic smile.

"Oh, I'm just freaking great," I said bluntly.

"Yeah, sorry probably not the best thing to ask the girl we kinda kidnapped huh." Carson scrunched his eyebrows and frowned.

"Look, I am really sorry, but" he sighed and looked down at his hands "I can't say anything, fuck" he muttered under his breath.

"What? Tell me! Please." I pleaded if there was something he could tell me, anything, that could give me some kind of hints onto what the hell was going on I would be so grateful.

He sighed.

"I can't. I hope he tells you everything soon before something happens. I'm sorry Riley" Carson frowned down at me, he placed his hand on my shoulder before his hand slowly slipped off and he was gone.

I looked around the room, Carson was talking to a girl wearing a tight red dress, but he didn't seem to be interested in the girl even though she was basically hanging herself onto him. Brooklyn was back in Madelyn's lap smiling and laughing like always. Madelyn was focused on a guy sitting in front of her that I didn't know by name, but recognized from Chris's house, then my eyes landed on who I was really looking for. Chris. He was standing with a drink in his hand, a group of guys standing with him, they seemed to be talking, but I had no idea about what.

'Well, duh Riley they're talking, who the hell just stands around in a circle and doesn't talk, he might be fucked up, but I don't think he's that fucked up. Besides, what else would they be doing? Just staring at each other?' There's that stupid sarcastic, snobby voice in my head again. I swear I don't have a multi-personality disorder or some shit like that, I just have another me in my mind, I mean don't we all? No, I think I might be crazy.

I turn around to look back at Chris, but he's gone again, I begin to look around again to see if I can spot him. I feel someone put their hand on my shoulder, causing me to jump.

"Whoa there gattina, calm down, it's just me," Chris said with a raspy chuckle.

"Yeah, cause you don't scare me at all, right," I say blankly and roll my eyes. Chris sighed at my response and took a large gulp of his drink, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallows.

I go to stand up, but a hand wraps around me quickly pulling me back. I bite my tongue so I don't scream.

"Where do you think you're going?" Chris's voice rings closely to my ear as he keeps a tight grip on my arm.

"The bathroom" an audible gulp escapes my throat.

"Not alone you aren't, Madelyn!" He calls his sister over and tells her to accompany me to the bathroom and to make sure I don't try to pull anything stupid. He tells her something in Italian that causes her to roll her eyes, Chris's jaw clenches as he gives her a serious look.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Brooklyn, stay here okay sweetie, mamma will be back in a minute." she walked over and kissed the little girl on the head and smiled.

"Come on Riley, the bathroom is this way" she gestured for me to follow her. I sighed and followed close behind her. I could feel Chris's eyes burning holes into the back of my skull like it would kill him to take his eyes off me.

I walked over to the sink, turning the faucet on. Madelyn stood by the door waiting and fixing her hair. Another girl walked in and looked at Madelyn, she scoffed and pushed her a little while walking through the door.

"Try me, Jessica, I swear I will put a bullet in your head this time," Madelyn said dangerously calm. Now I could tell she was related to Chris.

"Oh I'm sorry, did I touch your dirty little body, you should be used to it by now, you little slut. Speaking of, how is the little brat?" The words spilled out of the girl's mouth like poison, she grinned. Madelyn stood up straighter and slowly walked over to the girl, her eyes turning ice cold.

"Don't call my little girl a brat you disgusting bitch" she spit out through gritted teeth, she turned around and began to walk to the door.

"Come on Riley, we don't want to be in the same room as her too long, we might get an STD" Madelyn grabbed my arm and began to pull me out of the bathroom. I followed along like a lifeless zombie, trying to figure out what the hell I just witnessed. She was a hell of a lot more dangerous than she seemed.

'I'll put a bullet in your head this time' kept replaying in my head. Did that mean she had shot her before? Had she killed someone before? Who the hell are these people?

Madelyn quickly walked over to Chris, still pulling me along.

"Jessica is here, she just went into the bathroom and saw me with Riley," Madelyn spoke quickly, almost sounding a little scared.

"Merda" Chris mumbled, pushing his hand through his hair. "Just keep an eye out for Melvin, if you see him, come straight to me, inteso?"

"Y-yeah, of course." Madelyn spits out. She grabbed my arm and pulled me back to the table and pulled my chair out for me.

I took a seat and looked back at her. She was sitting down with Brooklyn in her lap again. She kissed the little girls head and hugged her tightly. She seemed so pained when Jessica called Brooklyn a little brat, in fact even I was a little hurt. Madelyn smiled at Brooklyn and handed her a pen and a napkin to doodle on.

"Here you go! It's a heart with a smiley face, to remind you to smile." Brooklyn smiled as she held out a napkin with a horribly drawn heart and her name scribbled on the bottom. I smiled and took it, fiddling with the edges. Brooklyn smiled at me again before she turned around and ran back over to Madelyn.

I looked down at the napkin lying in my hand and smiled.
