i sighed as i repeatedly ran back and forth in the small starbucks coffee shop, taking and filling orders. today has been so damn busy, it's unreal.

i sang along to the radio, 'there's nothing holdin me back' by shawn mendes was playing fairly loud through the speakers. talented guy i must say.

"baby there's nothing holdin me back." i mumbled along as i made someone's strawberry refresher.

"Karlee?" i yelled across the coffee shop.

a young girl, 13, maybe 14, came up and grabbed it.

"thank you." she smiled and took it.

i sighed heavily, finally work had slowed down.

i leaned against the counter, singing along to music as i was startled by four guys running in super fast.

my eyes widened and i gave them a confused look.

"my apologies, just had some, people, chasing after us." the taller guy said.

woah. oh my god.

that's shawn mendes.

"oh. uh yeah no worries." i rushed out.

"do you guys wanna order anything? or is this just your hiding spot?" i asked, earning laughs from them.

"i think we could all use something to drink?" shawn asked looking at the other guys.

they all got in line, shawn being last.

"you're that guy i always hear on the radio." i said as he walked up.

"i wouldn't say always i mean-"

"shawn,"

"three of your songs have been on several times today." i laughed.

he smiled wide and shook his head.

"can't help it! im pretty awesome." he said sarcastically.

i rolled my eyes jokingly.

"ok, what do you want to order?" i asked.

"um, ill just take a small plain green tea please." he said.

"ok, that'll be $2." i said.

he handed me a 10 before saying,

"keep the change."

$8 tip? woah, im lucky if i get $2.

"oh, thank you so much." i said and smiled.

"hey uh, not to sound like a crazy fangirl or anything but, mind if i get a picture with you?" i asked, slightly nervous.

"no problem." he said and smiled.

i reached into my apron pocket and grabbed my phone, handing it to him to take the picture.

"thanks." i said reaching back for my phone.

as he reached his hand over the counter to hand it back, it slipped and fell screen first right on the stone floor.

"shit." i mumbled.

he immediately panicked and ran back behind the counter, not worried about getting in trouble.

"i am so so incredibly sorry!" he said grabbing my phone off the ground, revealing the terribly shattered screen.

"its ok, it was time for me to get a new phone anyways. now i have an excuse to get one!" i laughed, not much humor being in my laugh.

"i feel like a shitty person, let me replace your screen." he said, still holding my phone.

"no shawn, it costs a lot, plus it was an accident. dont worry." i said grabbing for my phone.

"no! there's a verizon store down the street, ill take you down there and they'll fix it for less than $100 id assume." he said.

"shawn, that's super kind of you to offer but-"

"ok! let's go!" he said walking towards the door.

is he crazy? i still have an hour of work left. and its only me and Joe right now, and he doesn't like me, so i doubt he'll cover for me.

i sighed, knowing he wouldn't let me refuse to go with him.

"joe! i am so sorry, i will be right back, ill be gone no longer than 10 minutes i swear!" i said walking out with shawn, not waiting to hear what joe had to say back.

he threw his hood on and put his sunglasses on.

"shawn, it's not even sunny." i laughed.

"gotta stay undercover." he said causing me to laugh.

we showed up to the verizon store and luckily, there wasn't many people in there. just a few older people.

we walked up to the counter and shawn explained everything to them. it'll take them about 30 minutes to fix, and about $60.

"shawn, i can't let you pay for this, i'm gonna feel bad." i whined.

"uh, i feel bad! i broke your phone." he said laughing.

"here, you know how you can make up for it?" he asked, giving me a cheesy grin.

"how?" i asked.

he grabbed a sticky note and a pen off the counter, writing something down.

i grabbed it from him and read it,

"999-999-9999 ill be expecting a text in about 30 minutes! ;)"

i quietly laughed and shook my head, looking up at him who was smiling.

"i gotta go, my bus is leaving in less than 15 minutes. final stop of the tour, home. dont forget to text me!" he said.

"i won't. thank you shawn." i smiled.

"no problem. and hey, i never caught your name?"

"avery. avery pearl." i said.

"avery pearl, beautiful name for a beautiful girl." he said as he pulled me into a short hug.

"ill see you around, avery pearl." and with that, he was gone.
