LUCAS

I see Addie setting her luggage down. She hadn't stopped complaining the whole way home from the airport. Quite frankly, I didn't care but sometimes you want to hear something other than whining, you know?

Things between us were...difficult to say the least. We fucked around for a while, until her big brother found out and banned me from his house.

Now it was like we could barely tolerate each other. She went straight to the fridge as was typical for her without speaking a word.

"Have you talked to Alex?" I asked her.

She shook her head, bringing up a picture on her phone.

"No, but he sent me this," she showed me a picture of little Luke kissing Eileen's growing belly. She was already thirty-two weeks pregnant, which is I don't know how many months. I can never keep track.

"I still don't understand why they named him after you," Addie muttered. I chuckled, taking the glass of juice she had grabbed and drank some myself.

"I'm the favorite," I said with a shrug. "Always will be."

"You think you're so good, don't you?," Addie asked, snatching the glass from my hand.

"It's not like you're any better," I countered.

We all have issues in this world, some may have drug problems, others have shopping problems but some of us, like Addie are just... Bitchy. There is no other word for it. I don't even remember when she started behaving this way, she just did.

There was an awkward silence that filled the kitchen. She looked different than before, that was for sure. With Addie and I being the only ones staying in the house, things were tense to say the least. Seeing her there, despite it being over a year since we were last together, brought back memories.

A lot of them.

I could tell that it was the same for her. Addie and I were fucking complicated which was good. Neither of use ever searched for anything serious, unlike Melissa. She wanted everything, and I mean everything. I never had that problem with Addie. She didn't care. She was like me.

Finally, Addie ran her finger through her hair and cleared her throat.

"So, are you just standing there or do you have something useful to do today?" And there she goes, opening her mouth and ruining whatever type of tension we had between us.
