In the tape you can see Marissa walking down the hall laughing at Phillip and Gabby, before disappearing. Then Phillip and Gabby run down the hall toward the office. There are paper cups all over the desk and a few rolling on the floor. You can clearly see the two teenage girls in the room though. They appear to be talking and abruptly step apart when the other two teens walk into the room. Dave pauses the tape as Gabby closes in on Clover laughing and rolling her eyes.
"So with the tape as evidence." Dave stated before looking at the prosecution a little too pleased with himself. "The same evidence used to rush this case." He looked back to the judge. "I would like to request all charges be dropped against Clover Fray."
Thus the courtroom broke into chaos.
Marissa stood slowly from a seat at the back of the courtroom. She made her way casually out of the court house and to her car in the parking lot. She would have to move quickly. She knew with the announcement of new evidence at the last trial there was a chance Clover may not be convicted of this murder.
If Clover went free the police would have to look for new suspects. With time of death established and Marissa with no alibi she couldn't leave anything to chance. She had gone to Mr. Ranson's house the night before, and taken the cash she knew he had from all the students he had been blackmailing. The police had been looking for it, but they didn't know the right places to check.
Marissa had seen Mr. Ranson hiding his cash in empty soap bottles. Shampoo's, conditions, and body washes that he kept in his guest bathroom. He had bragged to many times to Marissa of the money he had stashed in his house. Now all of it was her's.
Marissa drove herself to the airport. Her suitcases in the trunk. She had been planing her escape, since the first murder.
Marissa hadn't meant to kill Lisa Kippings.
Lisa and Marissa had lived next to each other for years. Lisa was three years older than Marissa and what felt like ten times stronger.
Lisa made Marissa's life a living hell.
She would always pick on the younger girl. She would video tape Marissa in her room, and threaten to show the older kids Marissa undressing or doing something embarrassing. She would beat Marissa up in the back yard under the guise of playing, and often left bruises down her back. She had even once cut off a huge chunk of Marissa's hair and made her lie to her parents about it.
The day Lisa died, Marissa had been in her backyard working on homework. Mr. Fray had dropped her off after her job at the bank, like he always did. Lisa worked at the same bank as Clover, and had the shift just before hers. So when Clover went in Lisa came out. Mr. Fray was only being nice by providing a ride. If only he had know it would land him in jail.
Lisa had gone straight to Marissa in the backyard. She tossed the books out of Marissa's lap and pushed the younger girl off the porch swing. These things Marissa was used to, but today something extra nasty was in Lisa's eyes.
She told Marissa that today she had a special treat for her. When Marissa looked at the older girl again she was handing her a photo of Marissa. Marissa and an older boy from the high school. The things happening in the photo were private and something that would get Marissa in a lot of trouble if her parents knew she had boys over while they were away.
Lisa was already laughing and getting up. She had all the power over Marissa and nothing Marissa ever said or did stopped the torture.
As Lisa walked to the gate that connected their back yards, Marissa stood up and followed. She had one of the porch pillows under her arm, and when she pushed the older girl down, she knew exactly how to use it.
