I pushed open the brown door to my house and stepped into the warmth. Discarding my coat and my wet shoes in the closet located by the door, I walked to the kitchen.
Dex, My large black lab, came running in from the living room. His tail wagging back and forth as I reached down and rubbed his ears. After saying my hellos I filled his bowl with a cup of food and topped off his water dish. As Dex was inhaling the food I moved to the fridge.
I pulled out my water bottle and let the door shut by it's self as I grabbed the box of crackers from the counter. I walked into the living room and sat them on the small table beside the sofa and went over to the back door, waiting for Dex to finish eating. He always needed to go to the bathroom after he ate.
After letting him out into the semi large yard I closed the door and walked back over to the sofa and took a seat. It was black and I had placed two light blue pillows at either end. I turned the TV on with the volume low and pulled my phone from my pocket.
Alexander: Hey are you coming to the movie with us this Friday?
Carter: yeah man
Dex barked so I put the crackers back down and let him in. He of course got snow on the floor from his paws. I sighed and grabbed the towel I kept by the door and wiped the snow up so it wouldn't melt completely and ruin the hardwood.
The door opened and in walked my best friend, long light brown hair down and a video game in hand. She was wearing leggings with triangles on them and a plain black shirt. "Guess what came today Carter!" She said excited, petting Dex as she walked in and sat down on the sofa.
"The video game you've been waiting for?" I questioned, already knowing the answer though.
"Yes! Are we gonna play it or what?" She asked but was already on the way to the XBOX under my TV. I shook my head lightly but smiled and sat down on the sofa and waited as she handed me a controller.

We spent a good three hours playing the game, she was (of course) better at it then me. Now it's six in the afternoon which is normally around the time I have dinner. I got up from the sofa as Elise kept playing the game and headed to the kitchen.
I didn't bother to ask Elise if she wanted a hamburger as I plugged the grill in and got the hamburger out of the fridge. Her and I are both always hungry. After placing the patties on the grill and washing my hands I grabbed two plates and placed buns on them. After the six minutes were up and I took the hamburgers off the grill and stuck them on the plate I sat down at the small table.
"Elise I made dinner, if you hadn't noticed" I said into the living room. She laughed and said she would be right there before turning off the TV and walking into the kitchen.
"It looks amazing thank you" She said as she slid into the chair across from mine and grabbed the ketchup. I sat down in mine and waited for her to finish with the ketchup.
"Okay, so, you know that girl you thought was cute at the store the other day? Well I might have got her number for you" Elise said sending me a smirk as she bit into the food.
"What! Elise you have got to be kidding me" I spoke holding my hands up in a what the fuck position.
"Nope, she seemed more then happy to give it to me though" Elise continued "So you should totally text her tonight".
"Did she really seem happy about it?" I questioned as I bit into my hamburger.
"Yes really! She wouldn't have gave it to me otherwise Carter. Just because I'm single doesn't mean we both have to be so get yourself a date" Elise laughed and threw a potato chip across the table at me.
