Y O U
She was gliding through the snowy forest, never caring for the soft drops of snow that fell upon her face or for the drop in temperature as she moved swiftly about.
This was nothing new to her, she had lived on Emerald Isles for her entire life, she knew this place better then anyone and was most familiar with the ever changing tourists that visited. The weather was to be expected and she scolded herself for never being prepared for it's arrival.
She was currently on a hunt, looking for any animals she could kill for her meal. The snow had caused most prey to burrow and hide from her which would've normally been fine but she had not stocked up on meat and was left with the fruits and vegetables she scavenged and grew.
Her ears twisted and peeled up at the smallest noise which lead her nose to wrinkle and sniff for a whiff of something. What she smelled wasn't prey though - it held a distinct and familiar scent to it.
Blood.
Not specifically animal blood, no but it did have a twinge of wolf to it. She assumed it was one the wolves from the neighboring pack although it was odd that they'd travel out so far.
And, it just didn't smell completely like a wild wolf. More domesticated and reduced yet still held the fierceness to it. She knew not of what it could be but she had to find out. If it happened to be a threat to herself then she would get rid of it, simple and plainly as that.
Her family had lived here forever, for generations they were the sole werewolves on this isle. Not exactly Guardians of it but they belonged here just as much as the trees and animals did. It was there home and she'd defend it if she had to.
She slowed her pace down and just padded along, sniffing the area as the scent grew stronger and more prominent.
" H- ugh ", A low groan came from around the trees, most certainly not an animal but a person presumably in pain.
She hesitated though - she never interacted with the tourist that came around because most were just humans and not of her kind. They thankfully never strayed to close to her home and on the off chance that they did; she'd hide somewhere until they left.
Outsiders were dangerous. Outsiders brought misfortune.
Yet a part of her felt drawn to help them, they sounded like they were miserable and in pain. She couldn't just leave them to the hands of Mother Nature especially in this weather. They'd die and she couldn't bare to have that on her conscious.
Despite her ideals, she followed the sound. Her tail swinging behind her as she searched for its source. . . she did not expect to see that.
Dark figure, not too tall but definitely not her height.
Her breath hitches in her throat as she studied the unfamiliar entity, she prayed her thoughts had stayed in her head because she didn't want it to hear her or even look at her.
It scared her.
She backed away, hiding behind a tree so she could watch the creature better. Understand it more until she could properly introduce herself and maybe help it; if it proved to be a friendly. She did get a good look of it though.
It was leaning against a tree, holding it's chest with one hand. Black hair with faded blue streaks fell onto it's face, hiding it's eyes from her view yet she was not focused on that. The creature had ears sticking from it's head and a tail dragging behind it. Blood oozed from every part of it's body, ripped clothing exposed wounds and bruises that all looked fresh. It limped too in a most pitiful manner. The creature had been a victim of an attack yet for what for, the girl did not know.
It was one of her kind though and she could not just leave it there, it was wounded and she must tend to it as best as she could.
Her body seemed to move on it's own as she carried herself towards it, reaching out for the creature in an attempt to see it clearly and have it come to her arms.
It didn't seem to like that.
It jerked it's head up and moved away from her, wincing at the pain from it's body but still baring it's teeth defensively. She could see it's eyes clearly though, they were mostly grey but had this soft green glow to them. It didn't help that scars run across it's nose and near it's eyes.
" Let me help you . . . I am one of your kind, just let me heal you ", She spoke softly to it yet made no effort to move closer and reach out.
It's ears perked up towards her and it studied her, looking her up from head to toe which a disgruntled look on it's face. It seemed to want to pull away and run but let it's self ease. Not to say that it wasn't still weary of her every move.
She tried to soothe it with a smile, the corners of her lips turning upward as she moved closer to it. It flinched and let out another low groan as she hooked her arm around it; trying to let it use her to support itself. " I'm gonna take you to my house, okay? ", It made no effort to speak but did a small nod to give it's consent and that was all she needed.
Pressing herself close to it, she began the walk home with the wounded werewolf by her side.
