3000 Years Ago...

  The tears in my eyes stung like a thousand needles had been put behind them. I held her body as close to me as I could - the pain of losing her was already setting in, and I could already feel my self-falling to bits. My hand gently rubbed the side of her head, dried blood covered the ends of her hair. ''I'm so sorry...'' I muttered, resting my forehead against hers.  I slowly stood to my feet, lowering her body back to the earth's top layer. I took a long deep breath, my eyes giving her one last look before I made my way to the burning flame before me. I picked up a large stick that laid in the bushes; must've fallen a while ago. I'd stop before the dancing flames before, my eyes locked on them. The fire held life, and once it was put out... It was dead. Setting the stick into the fire - I'd watch it catch the flame, locking together. Turning my attention back to my love, I'd hold in all the tears I could. I shall not cry. ''I'm sorry I let this happen...'' I spoke, before letting the flame touch her lifeless body. It didn't take long before her whole body had caught flame and consumed her in one bite.
