Chapter 4:
“And I win, again!”
“This isn’t fun anymore!” I whined, “Let’s play something else,” I suggested to Brendan who had just beat me at cards, again.
“I like this game though,” He had a huge smile on his face, real funny.
“But I don’t, please!?”
“Fine, what do you want to play princess Kayce?”
“Umm, I don’t know how about-,” I was about to say what we should play but a nurse stuck her head into Brendan’s room and said she was looking for me.
“Okay, bye Brendan,”
“Bye Princess Kayce,” He said still smiling at me.
Once we were out of his room the nurse turned to me and said, “You have a visitor and he said he needed to see you very soon,”
I knew instantly who it was, “ZACH!” I cried while running into my room, and that little rat was sitting on my bed looking at my new bracelet.
“Kayce!” He stood and greeted me with a hug, “I’ve missed you so much! I would have came earlier but all this mid-term stuff has had me tired,”
“That’s alright, at least you came, and I’ve missed you too!” I said giving him another hug.
“So what’s been going on in the hospital?” He asked after he sat on my bed.
“Nothing much, it’s very boring here actually, I should have been released but they’re holding me for some reason,”
“Ohh, that sucks, I need to see your smiling face through the window before I get ready for school though,” He whined. We’re next door neighbors and he insisted that every time he woke up I would go to the window and smile at him so he could get ready for the day.
“Yeah, and I miss my movie days with you!” Every Friday night me and Zach would sit at either mine or his house and watch a shit ton of movies, it was awesome.
“I think we just miss each other,” He said really, weirdly. It left us in an awkward silence.
“Uhh, so how’s soccer going?” I asked, trying to break that awful silence.
“Good, we’ve won all of our games! We rock!” He said laughing.
“That’s great! I remember playing together in AYSO, back, wow almost 6 years ago,”
“Me, too, although I remember Miss Kayce was a very annoying ball hog,” He said sticking his tongue out at me.
“I don’t think so!” I leaned over to smack him right as my door flew open.
“Kayce? What’s wrong, uhh, umm,” It was Brendan and he looked uncomfortable, I mean I was leaning pretty close to Zach at that moment.
I quickly leaned away and smiled, “Hey Brendan, sorry I should have told you, it was just my friend from home Zach, Brendan meet Zach, Zach meet Brendan,” I said smiling to the two boys I fully trusted.
“Hey,” Brendan said, but all Zach did was nod and it was weird, it was as if Zach was mad, but about what?
“Kayce, I’ve got to go, sorry bye,” He said walking out.
“Well that was weird,” I said turning to Brendan.
“Yeah, uhh, it was because of me,”
“No it wasn’t,” I said waving that off, Zach wasn’t like that, “Want to go play some more card games?”
“I have stuff to do,” Brendan said before flying out of my room, hmm both of them were acting really weird.
I decided to brush it off and watch TV, I watched some Glee, then Pretty Little Liars, but it was all re-runs and boring, before I knew it dinner came, and I ended up falling asleep early.

I awoke in a huff, covered in sweat, I looked at the clock and it was three am, then I remembered I was having a horrible nightmare. It wasn’t of my dying, no it was worse, it had me, and Zach and Brendan in it. Zach and Brendan were both upset with me for different reasons; they both stopped talking to me, and stopped being my friend. Then I died of cancer. Although the ending didn’t scare me that always happens in my dreams it was the other part. What was up with that?
I decided to be risky and slowly crawled out of bed, grabbed my IV, and crept down to Brendan’s room. I slipped into his bed with him and he immediately wrapped his arm around my waist. I fell asleep instantly and didn’t have any more nightmares about people not being my friend anymore; I actually had no dreams at all.
It was perfect.
A/N: Oh no! Kayce's sleeping with Brendan, I wonder how Zach will feel about that, or maybe he wont find out at all? hmmm.. it will all fit in nicely, or however I put it either way! LOL(:
