*Dawn's P.O.V.*

I walked in through the school doors my best friend- my only friend- Jessica James, was waiting for me at the entrance. She gave me a weak smile and a hug, and I did the same. She has been my only friend for more than five years. I'm what you call a loner, a nerd, a loser, and rarely emo. Everybody makes fun of me and calls me names, just because I don't dress like the other girls, or look like the other girls. I don't have friends, I only know Jess because she works and helps in the orphanage that I used to live in and now work in too. I am the way I am because as a two year old I went through a traumatic experience and ever sense I had trouble being around people, I'm only friends with Jess because she would somehow always find a way to make me smile.

*FLASHBACK*

I was two years old and it was almost my birthday. I was so excited! We were going to the beach. I had always dreamt of going to the beach and feel the sand in between my toes and the beachy breeze in my hair.

I know I was two I had big dreams okay! Gosh!

Well back to what I was saying.

Well, my parents were talking about a baby and telling me something, but I didn't know. I was too busy looking outside my window, daydreaming. I was putting the window down to feel the breeze, and scooted my car seat a little more to the side to get a better view of the ocean. I was getting really happy. Mom caught my attention, and I snapped out of what I was thinking.

"Dawn, sweety," my mom said, her perfect cheekbones glowing.

               "Yes mommy?" I asked her.

"We have something to tell you," she looked at daddy then at me with a big smile.

"What is it?" I asked already knowing the answer. This is what made me even happier. Mommy was having a baby. I was happy to be having a baby brother or sister. This time both mommy and daddy looked at me.

"Well honey...," was all I could remember before seeing a big light flash. After that all I could hear was screaming and yelling. Then, everything went dark and I passed out. The next morning I woke up in a white room on an uncomfortable bed, with a blinding light hitting my eyes.

"Everybody, be quiet! She’s waking up," I heard a lady yell. Next thing I know I hear everyone 'shhing' at each other.

"Um.... Where am I?" I asked in a panicky tone.

"Sweety, you're in the hospital," the same lady said soothingly, "You were in a car accident."

"Where are my mommy and daddy?" I asked the unfamiliar lady. She just looked at the people behind her with a tortured face on. Then, she looked down at the floor, then back at me tears going down her face. I was getting scared now. I could feel my eyes fogging up. Next thing I know I start screaming and crying at the same time saying, "NOOO! WHERE IS MY MOMMY AND DADDY?"

"Sweety, please calm...,"I interrupted before she could finish.

"NOO," I yelled at her, "WHERE ARE THEY!" I demanded

"Honey..." she hesitated and bit her lip to stop from crying, but failed "Y..your parents they're d..d..dead." She stuttered. I could see it was hard for her to say this and everybody in the room, but all I could think about is that this couldn’t be happening. In whatever moment they would come through the door and yell “HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAWN!”
