Allisons POV:

*EARLIER*

I walked down the dark alley to the backdoor of the bar, The Strumpet, I worked in. From far away I saw my best friend. The only friend I have actually, that’s why I couldn’t let him go, but it’s not like I like him more than as a friend.

Not.

Jason had a girlfriend, and I think she is perfect. I have never seen her but the way Jason talks about her. I only know her name is Jessica and she is sixteen like me. He says she has a lot of friends but prefers Dawn, her best friend.

This was the first time i heard of such a name. And being this Jessica's friend i was pretty sure i wasn't going to like her.

I sighed internally, of course jealously was acting on its own course. I don't know about Dawn or Jessica for that matter, but i knew if they were good people i will like them.

He was standing there with his usual attire, jeans and a tight black shirt. I could see his perfect muscles from where I stood. Well he has got to be strong, but unlike other security guards, he wasn’t bald. He was actually 18 and was very young, but his uncle manages the bar so he got privileges.

I was wearing my usual clothes, a mini skirt a tight shirt that showed a LOT of cleavage, 6 inch heels, and heavy make-up. My hair was left loose, I didn’t like it, I didn’t like the make-up either, or the clothes, or my work or anything. But my clients preferred me this way.

“Hey Allison, how are you?” Jason asked with a sympathetic smile.

“I’m okay.” I tried to give him a weak smile.

He sighed, “Allison I’ve told you millions of times, I can read you like an open book, I know you’re not ‘okay’.” He used air quotations around the word okay.

I think I should back up a little to my past.

FIVE YEARS AGO

“Daddy, can we get a movie!” I asked excitedly.

“Sure honey which one do you want to watch?” He swung an arm over my shoulder adoringly.

“Uh…” I thought about it, “Madagascar!” I decided jumping at the name.

My dad laughed, “Whatever you want.”

At the early age of thirteen I was already the apple of his eye. I absolutely adored my Dad and he loved me back. Little did I know about the tragedy that was yet to occur.

We drove back to our house. I kissed my mother’s cheek, “How are you feeling Momma?”

“Oh a little better thank you Allison.” She gave me a weary smile, but I just sighed. I knew my Mother wasn’t a ‘little better’. She had a disease that was killing her slowly if not treated immediately. In a span of ten years she could die if we wouldn’t have found about it. Fortunately the doctors detected it early and she is now on treatment. We had to go on a little shortage of our usual stuff to get the money, but it was all worth for my Mother. She was halfway through.

We put the movie. I put a blanket over my Mom so she won’t get cold and dust off her pillow. She smiled at me, I smiled back.

I snuggled close to my dad and we watched the movie together. We laughed together. We ate popcorn together. We basically did everything together, and I’m not talking only about watching this movie.

When the movie ended I saw my mom fell asleep, my dad noticed too and he went over and kissed her cheek. I knew my dad loved my mom the same or more than he loved me, and I was entirely happy both my parents were here with me.
