Chapter 3

Asuka ran to her cottage where she used to live in with Natsu. Since the day she had left, she had forgotten to gave Natsu the keys. So Natsu would end up crashing in Lucy's place or sleep in the guild. Now, he's already used to crash in Lucy's house and decided to let Asuka settle in by herself for awhile.

The sky was starting to be filled by dark clouds. She looked into the sky for a moment and sighed. 'I never thought that I'll be back home... there are so many thing that had changed...' she thought as she remembering the store had gotten smaller on the way back to her place.

Still walking on her way home, she saw Gray sighing amongst the crowd on the Main Street. 'It's Gray! Maybe he could accompany back to my place.' She thought as shesmiled brightly, approaching the ice mage.

She walked quickly towards him. "Gray-" she stopped as she saw him walking with a blue haired girl who she saw earlier at the guild. They looked happy, although Gray was trying to resist her. He seems that he's enjoying her company.

She stepped back, couldn't risk to ruin their moment together and started to ran towards her house.

Gray heard the blonde haired girl's voice as turned his head upon hearing his name being called. He looked around to search her in the crowd. "...Gray-sama...?" Juvia tilted her head. Gray stood there for awhile then turned back to Juvia.

"Hm, I was just hallucinating..." he sighed and continued to walk with her again.

Asuka slowed down the pace after being pretty far from Gray and Juvia. Asuka looked back for a moment then continued her way to her home.

'Maybe... she's the one who Gray likes...?'

Soon, the rain started to fall. "Shit." She muttered under her breath and started to run again. As she saw her cottage between two big trees near the woods, she dashed to avoid the rain, but then slipped.

"Woah!!-" but thankfully there's someone behind her who caught her in the right time.

"You shouldn't be running in the rain Asuka." The man helped her up to get balance again. She looked behind and stared at him.

"Mystogan... you came."

As the rain was getting harder, the whole cottage began to shake a bit. They had gotten inside, where Asuka lit the fireplace with her magic to warmed them up. Asuka gave Mystogan a shirt and pair of pants to change since his clothes were completely drenched with water from earlier.

"Or maybe should I call you Jellal? Maybe you're more comfortable with it." She said as she walked to the kitchen. "Hm, you could call me with whatever you want." He changed his clothes quickly and put his wands and backpack aside.

"How's the guild?" Mystogan, or so called Jellal, asked while uncovering his face since he knew that he would be safe in there. Asuka stared at him for awhile, gazing on his tattoo on his right side of face.

"They're still great as ever." She turned back to the kitchen counter where she made some tea. She pulled out a tray and put the teacups on it and walked in the living room where Mystogan is.

"Did you just came back from a quest?" She smiled as she put down the tray on the coffee table and sat down on the same couch as Mystogan. "Well not exactly..., things had happened when you weren't here, but I'm on the way back to the guild. But then I saw you." He said and took a sip of his tea. "Great to see you again in here, I'm sure everyone is glad."

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone is..."

"Why? Did someone go against the fact that you're back?"

"N-No, it's not like that, Jellal... anyways since when did you join the guild?" She then took a sip from her cup. He stared at her for a moment.

"The day after we parted away, when you're still on the quest."

"I see..."

"Where is–"

"Marie took him." Mystogan's hands turned into fists after hearing her name. "That bitch–"

"I was too weak without you, Jellal, I couldn't even save him from her and I never heard anything from them anymore." She covered her face in shame. She began to cry quietly near her best friend who's the only one who could understand her.

"I had looked for them, years! God dammit. And I decided to come back to the guild with a hope of seeing you there and...here you are." She looked up at him again with tears dripping down from her eyes. The man sighed as he watched her crying in front of him.

"I need you, Jellal. You're the only person who I can trust now." Mystogan stared at her for awhile and wiped her tears away. "I'll look out for them, now stop crying." She sniffed and nodded. "And I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you behind, but the Anima was..."

"I know...you had to fix your problems first." She smiled. "Yes, my businesses in Edolas are done. Now I came back to help you."

"Why?"

"Don't ask me why, you know what they did to those exceeds. Once an Exceed saved me, how could I let their race got–"

"Okay, I understand."

The blonde girl stayed silent and took a sip of from her cup. "And you don't have any Edolas counterpart which made me miss you even more." She blushed at his words and looked away.

She nervously eyed the blue haired man beside her who's staring at her deeply. "I promise, I'll find him before anything happened." Mystogan held her hand which made her blush even more. But she gripped back and nodded.

The rain slowly stopped and the dark clouds started to disappear, showing a clear full moon and stars. "...it's time to go now." Mystogan stood up from the couch. "Let's keep in contact, ask Mirajane to lend her crystal ball when you need me, it'll allow you to contact me." Asuka nodded assuringly and stood up too. "I will." She smiled and gave the man a friendly hug which he responds with a hug back.

"We'll meet again soon." He muttered as he backed away from the hug.

"I'll be going to the west."

"Thanks for the clothes, by the way." He put back on his cape and covered almost all of his face again. He picked up his backpack and put it on his back.

As soon they're in front of her house, Mystogan stopped for a moment and turned back to Asuka. "Don't tell the others yet, but I suppose you had to tell Master...?"

"I haven't told him yet."

"Well I think you should, just incase if something happened." Asuka nodded and stared at Mystogan who's ready to leave her alone.

"And..." his face flushed for a bit and looked down for a second. She tilted her head in confusion and waited for what he's going to say. But not a single word came out after that, instead an action. He leaned in and kissed her with a cloth that covered his mouth in between their lips. Her eyes widen in surprise, even after he pulled away from it.

Her eyes started to wonder anywhere except for his face and she quickly looked down in embarrassment. At the other hand, he looks very amused by her reaction and smirked underneath the cloth he's wearing.

"I expected more reaction but... I think it's already quite amusing."

"You–"

"When I get back, let's talk about it hm? I'll go now."

"Fine, good luck!"

He nodded and walked away to the darkness of the night. Mystogan had known, but little did Asuka know, someone had been spying on them the whole time they're outside the house near the woods.
