KNOX'S POV

I was awoken by the thumping of little feet, and then something jumped onto my stomach.

"Umph!"

"Oops, sorry, Knox.." my little sister Macy said with an innocent smile on her face and a couple of blinks of her bright blue eyes.

Innocent my butt.

"Get off you little pest," I said trying to push her off.

"GOOD MORNING, KNOX!" she screamed in my face, then she took my pillow out from under my head and threw it across my room.

"Uuugh! I said GET OFF!"

Just as I said it, her eyes got big and started to water.

"MOOOOOMMYY!!" she yelled, and ran out the door.

"Oh, just great," I said, tumbling out of bed. Macy was the perfect little seven year old sister anyone could ever have. Yeah, right.

My mind and eyes were cloudy from sleep but I turned to look at my alarm  clock and processed it was Monday. Okay, well why w-

Awh, crap.

There's school today.

"Knox!" I cringed. That's my mom.

"Yeah, mom?" I said lifting myself out of bed.

"You better be out here in t-minues two minutes."

I flipped out of bed as fast as I could, banging my head in the process, and went to my drawers and took out a green Hollister t-shirt and brown cargo shorts I found on the floor. Next I scrambled to my bathroom and spiked up my messy brown hair and brushed my teeth. After giving myself a satisfied smirk, I grabbed my backpack, slipped on sandals and ran out of my bedroom to see my mom standing in the kitchen with her arm around Macy's shoulder. I groaned and dropped my backpack.

"Mom, I didn't do anything."

"Honey, you're almost eighteen years old."

"I know."

"Good, so stop acting ten years younger," she said as she turned around to turn over some scrambled eggs. While she was doing that, Macy stuck out her tongue at me so I stuck out my tongue back because it was the proper thing to do, right? That's right when mom turned around.

Aha, I'm having such a good day so far.

"Knox Nathaniel Porter, get out."

"Awh, but mom I-" she cut me off by throwing a pop-tart in my face. Ouch.

"Go. You'll be late."

I pouted jokingly and she smiled.

"Oh, I love you, sweetheart," she said as she gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"I know," I laughed, gave her a kiss, and walked out the door.

Once I got to school, my best friend since pre-school, Wesley, came up to me.

"Dude, so I got us registered into this legit surf contest."

"Really? Sweet!"

Wes and I had been surf boarding since we were five. It was the most passionate thing to me. It made me feel free and at home. I loved the water and surfing with your best friend just made it better.

"It's going to be tomorrow after school. The waves are supposed to be amaazing."

"Cool, dude. Wanna hit up the beach today?"

"Um, yeah, man, but dude Sarah is going to be so pissed today."

"Why? What did you do?"

"I kind of accidently spilled paint on her board.."
