Curiosity Killed The Cat

Chapter 1

"Kat you're going to be late!"

"I'm coming!" Shouted thirteen year-old Katherine Jones, in reply to her mother. She finished applying her lip gloss and grabbed her school bag before running down the stairs. She walked into the kitchen and placed her bag on the counter, she then grabbed the toast from her little sisters hand.

"Mum, Kat took my toast!" Whined, ten year-old Lillian Jones.

"Kat give her it back!" Replied Mrs Tracy Jones from the living room, in reply Kat finished the toast.

"Too late." She said smirking at her little sister.

"Mum, she ate my toast!" Whined Lillian as Mrs Jones walked into the room.

"Oh shut up Lilly!" Replied Kat grabbing Lilly's cup and downing it's contents.

"Mum she drank my juice too!" Lilly frowned. Mrs Jones shook her head at the two and walked out to the hall.

"Sam, you're late!" She shouted up the stairs. She heard a thud shortly followed by a,

"Coming Mum!" From eight year-old Samuel Jones. He ran downstairs and into the kitchen with his tie undone and laces loose. Mrs Jones shook her head and went back to making another batch of toast. The family sat for two minutes of flicking and whining before Mrs Jones turned to her three children.

"Okay that's enough! Your Dad is upstairs asleep!"

"Not my fault you had two more kids." Replied Kat as the doorbell went.

"I'll get it." Said Lilly standing up and skipping to the door. The family turned their heads as Lilly opened the door. Outside stood two thirteen year-olds, Ella and Katy.

"Hi Ella, hi Katy!"

"Hi Lilly, is Kat ready?" Asked Ella. Lilly gestured them in and they stood in the hall. Kat grabbed her school blazer and hung it over her arm waking out to her friends.

"Bye!" She shouted walking towards the door. She walked out followed by her friends. Once outside her house she turned to the two.

"Last week of High School!" She said grinning.

"I can't wait!  My Mum is taking me and Declan to Ibiza!" Said Katy talking about her family holiday with her 10 year-old brother who was one of Lilly's friends.

"My Mum and me are going to America to see my Dad." Said Ella, since her parents were divorced.

"What are you doing Kat?" Asked Katy. Kat shrugged her shoulders.

"You two know I don't go on holiday. I'll probably spend Summer here."

Ella and Katy looked at each other then shook their heads and started another conversation,

"Did you hear about the new kids joining today?" Ella asked. Kat shook her head while Katy replied,

"Yeah, they moved into the house next to Anna's."

"Anna?"

"Oh yeah Anna Green, I've got history with her. She's quite nice." Katy replied to Ella's question.

"Oh that Anna, right." Ella replied.

"Kat are you okay you seem quiet?" Both of the girls looked at each other as Ella asked Kat.

"Yeah I'm fine." Replied Kat plugging on her headphones into her phone. Katy shook her head at Ella as the girls approached their school, Blairrose High School.
