Who is this 'New God?'

With a flap of her wings, she was out if the warehouse and in front of an angel who she sensed was stronger than most who had went down in the fall a year ago. She shoved him back against a tree, pinning him in place with her forearm, a fire flaming in her eyes.

"Who is he?" She demanded, feeling him tense in surprise at the sudden violence.

"Who is 'he,' sister?" His voice was leveled as he tried pulling himself out of her grip, but to no avail. Her strength level was just above his. She pushed her arm against him harder, her face a mere five inches away from his.

"This 'new God' that has been spreading amongst our brothers and sisters." She replied, seeing his face turn from confusion into one of knowing, though he tried to play it off as still being confused.

"I have no idea what you are speaking of, Sister. I have not heard of this-"

"Enough of the games, *Heilei. I know you know who this new God is, so stop acting like you don't. Who is he?" She raised her voice, her teeth slightly baring at the way her nose scrunched up in anger. Before he could answer, a bush rustled behind her. She turned her head, expecting another angelic ambush, but saw nothing more than a small rabbit frantically hopping away from all the commotion. She heard a flutter of wings and she suddenly fell against the tree, catching herself on the trunk where Heilei was just standing. The angel had fled while she was distracted. She let out a yell of frustration, slamming her fist against the rough bark of the tree before turning around and leaning her back on it, her arms falling loosely to her sides. She pursed her lips, tilting her head to the side, her blonde hair falling to the side of her shoulders. She thought for a long while, nobody's name coming to mind. She knew she wouldn't find any more angels in the forest for a while, especially since Heilei escaped and he could have alerted all the angels in the area. She tucked her hands into her jacket pockets, using her shoulders to push her off the tree and standing vertically again, deciding to check the nearby town for any clues as to who, or what  this new God was.

It was at least a mile walk, but she finally made to the small town of Badger, Minnesota. She walked along the sidewalk that led down the street, making a sharp left turn into a grocery store that resided a few yards into the town. Opening the doors, a small bell signalled her arrival. It wasn't a huge store, maybe two or three fuel marts put together. There were five isles of human food, one being a freezer isle. A woman looked up from the nearby register, slightly smiling as she bid her a hello.

"We have a discount on our bread and deli meats today; 25% off." Kyrene turned her head to look at the woman, her eyebrows furrowing together in confusion.

"I do not need to eat." The woman returned her look of confusion, slightly stumbling over her next words.

"Oh, well, drink- the drink section is at the end of isle three." Kyrene tilted her head farther to the side, still looking confused.

"But I do not need any drinks, either. I do not need the necessities that humans need." She turned away from the woman and continued walking forwards, looking for any sign of an angel who may have stumbled in here like she did. When she didn't see anyone, she turned back around and retraced her steps to the front doors, seeing the woman still watching her with a bewildered gaze in the corner of her eye. She pushed the door open and walked out, continuing her journey down the sidewalk. She slowed her pace as she saw a small boy running down the sidewalk, a white plastic airplane in his hand. From here, she could hear the noise he was making with his lips, trying to imitate the sound of an airplane. In her opinion, it sounded nothing like it. As she walked past the little boy, she nodded once in politeness to the mother watching the boy, who returned her gesture. She slowed her pace to ask the mother a quick question.

"Hello. Have you seen any celestial beings who seem lost?" She blinked as the woman stared at her, her mouth slightly hung open in a speechless silence.

"Ah- I don't think I have, I- Celestial beings? Ma'am, are you okay?" Kyrene nodded, still waiting for a clearer answer. The woman slowly shook her head, clearing her throat, raising an eyebrow in puzzlement. "An- And why are you looking for these... 'celestial beings?' The way she said it caused Kyrene to raise her eyebrows, before replying.

"The fall, of course. I'm a Sereph of the Lord, or an angel as you humans call it. The angels fell from Heaven and I'm trying to find one who can tell me who has taken the unrightful place of God." The woman stayed silent, and instead slowly stood up and smiled politely, though Kyrene could still see the uneasiness under the gesture.

"Daniel, honey, come on. We have to go buy groceries now. Your father will be home soon." Kyrene watched as the two walked away, and due to her heightened hearing, she heard the mother lean down and whisper to the boy, "That woman was crazy and I didn't want you near her." She slightly scrunched her face in questioning. What was so crazy about the truth? Shrugging it off, she turned and walked into another store, this one a small antique shop. The same type of bell rang when she opened the door.

"Welcome!" An elderly lady greeted her from the front counter, and she simply nodded in return as she went up to the lady and repeated the same story to her as she did to the woman.

"Honey, have you been out in the sun for too long? I'm afraid your story doesn't make a lick of sense."

"No, the sun is not the problem. There is another being who is trying to be God, and I need to know who it is." When the woman opened her mouth to reply, all that came out was a gasp of shock. She followed the lady's gaze behind her, and as soon as she turned around, she saw two angels standing a few feet away from her.

"Kyrene. It's been so long, but we must not waste time on greetings. We have been ordered to find you and bring you back to Heaven for your consequence."

"Consequence for what?" She answered hesitantly, narrowing her eyes as she slowly etched the angel blade down the sleeve of her jacket.

"Metatron is not pleased about your rebellion against Heaven, and your loyalty has been long destroyed." The shorter one of the two answered, and she furrowed her brows once again.

"Metatron? Who is this you speak of?"

"He is the new ruler of Heaven, and he has demanded your presence." She felt her blood boil at the answer she's searched so long for.

"Well, tell him that I will not make it to Heaven today." As quick as the blink of an eye, she threw her angel blade like a dagger into the taller angel's chest, lodging it perfectly into his heart. He screamed as a great white light emitted from him, and she squared off with the shorter angel, who had drawn his blade as well. When he charged forwards, she dodged to the side, and he slammed into the shelf, knocking it over. She ran over to the dead angel, about to take the blade from his hand when she was launched back by a terrific amount of strength. She crashed into the wall before landing on the ground. She barely rolled out of the way as he struck the angel blade down, piercing the carpet instead of her chest. She felt him on top of her in lightening speed, angeling the blade above his head to strike down. As soon as he did, she caught his arm with her's, and now her life depended on her strength as the angel pushed down with all his weight. Her arm began shaking in stress, and she knew she wouldn't be able to hold it much longer. she turned her head to the side, seeing her angel blade lodged in the taller angel's body about a foot away. She extended her other arm as far as it could go, looking between the blade that was being forced down and her own blade. Her finger tips brushed against it, and she used her hand to grip the angel's body and drag it a tiny bit closer. She finally gripped the blade, and tugging it out, she swung it upwards and straight into the angel's skull. She closed her eyes as the bright white light blasted from him, and she rolled him off her. She shakily got to her feet, her back facing the front doors. The elderly lady was on the ground, passed out in shock. She started to move forwards to help her when she heard a new, but not unknown voice behind her.

"Sister, I can see you made work of the two angels who were sent for you." She whipped around and stared at the angel before her, who was surveying the scene before looking up at her and meeting her eyes. Her throat tightened as she sharply inhaled, her eyes wide in shock.

"Gadreel."
