I awoke to the sound of birds singing sweetly, the sun beautifully streaming through the glass windows. I sat up from my makeshift bed, pulling the blankets off. My feet landed on the soft carpet below, standing up and stretching. I made my way to the kitchen, rummaging around the fridge.
"I should probably thank my hosts for taking me in," I mumbled to myself as I removed eggs from the refrigerator. I pulled a pan out of the cabinet and dragged the bread on the counter close to the stove. I cracked the eggs into a bowl, whisking carefully. I switched the stove on, letting the pan heat up slowly. I searched for the cinnamon almost in vain, but luckily I found it hiding in the back of a cabinet. I hummed soothingly as I made French toast, I made quite a few, not really knowing how many people lived here.
I soon heard a pair of footsteps coming down the stairs, making their way to the kitchen. I was visites by a man with caramel brown hair, a gray shirt hanging loosely around his chest.
"Who the fuck are you?" He asked in a Norwegian accent.
"You the fuck are you?" I retorted, placing a few more slices onto a large plate.
"I asked you first."
"I asked you second."
We made tense eye contact until I dropped the aggression and smiled calmly, "Matt and Edd let me in late last night, I was lost in the heavy rain." The man nodded, his silvery eyes scanning the table, a damn near feast resting there.
"Holy shit," he raises his eyebrows, "You did this?" I smiled and nodded.
"Could you go get the rest of your roommates?" I asked kindly, he nodded and scurried up the stairs quickly. I heard a faint, "GET UP JACKASSES," before returning to finish setting the table. I heard multiple feet stumbling and shoving down the stairs. Four boys pushed each other into the doorway of the kitchen, staring in awe at the beautiful breakfast that awaited them. Edd ran up to me and wrapped his arms around me.
"(F/N) this is all looks amazing! Why the feast?" Edd asks.
"Well, you let me stay the night, so I figured I could pay you back," I blushed, Edd's arms still around me. His breath tickling my neck. "Well anyway!" I spoke, "I need to familiarize myself with everyone who lives here, before I go at least."
"Leave? Don't you not have a place to go to?" Matt asks.
"Yeah but I can't stay here, you have already shown me so much kindness," I anxiously rubbed my arms in Edd's clothes.
"No no no no!" Edd refused, "you're staying here! Whether you like it or not!" My face flushed pink as he crossed his arms stubbornly.
"Edd, where is she even gonna sleep?" A man in a blue tank top spoke up, asking the real questions.
"She can sleep in my room!" Edd stated, putting his foot down. All the boys in the room just shrugged in a confused agreement, not really questioning Edd's clear authority. "So now that that's settled," Edd continued, "you know Matt and I. The one with the dirty blonde hair is Tord, and the one in the blue tank top is Tom." I waved shyly and smiled.
"I'm (F/N) (L/N), I guess I'll be living here from now on," I said, "now I didn't make this food for nothing, so we should eat!" That morning we all socialized and laughed over the table, Matt laughing so hard that milk shot out of this nose. Tom choked on his food when Tord mentioned something inappropriate about having a girl in the house. Out of character, Edd kicked Tord under the table, glaring at him. I picked up the tension but was able to diffuse it quickly, continuing to talk about how I ended up at their door.
"Well (F/N)," Tom spoke, "I can clean up the dishes while you take your stuff up into Edd's room." I nodded with a, "Thanks," as I left the room, Edd following close behind.
