We landed about a mile out side of the town and waited till night fall to head into town, because
after I had slid off of Zena and she had shrunk back down to a medium dog size, I had fallen asleep.
After I had woken we had a small meal of sandwiches and then we started for the town. Now that I
saw it closer though, it seemed more like a village. It had dirt roads, no lamp posts and very few
people from the looks of it. I frowned as we walked thru the small community to the center of the
village.
Four, larger than most of the other buildings, buildings were facing each other in towards the
center of the town where a single stone well was placed. Four dirt roads lead in opposite directions
from the well. Nobody was on the roads though and it was extremely quiet except for the crunch of
dirt as Zena and I walked over to the well.
Do you think we could have drink? Asked Zena in my mind, looking longingly at the water
down below. “I don't see why not.” I said out loud, grabbing a bucket that rested next to the well,
attaching it to the rope that was wound on a pole above the well and wound it down into the water.
After I wound back up the bucket, I set it down and Zena hastily drank from it as I looked around at
the four buildings facing us.
Two were brightly lit and one of them had smoke coming out of the top of it. The other had
donkey's, sheep, pigs and horses in a stall next to it. The animals were sleeping and occasionally one
would stir but then went still again. The third was dark and had no sign of movement from or near it.
The fourth was the largest and the only two story building in town. It was also brightly lit and faded
music and laughter could be heard from inside the double doors.
“Do you think we should-” I started to ask but was cut off by a loud bang as the double doors to
the two story building were flung open. A young girl flew thru the air, holding on to small dragons
tail who was flying strangely due to the added weight from the girl.”Give it back!” the girl yelled.
“No.” responded the dragon. “Do it now!” “Not going to happen.” “You are such a bra- Hey, new
people!” said the girl catching sight of me and Zena staring at her as she whizzed by. “What?” asked
the dragon, glancing over at us. As the dragon glanced over it veered suddenly to the left, crashing into
a pile of hay next to the fence where the animals were. The animals gave a cry as they were disturbed
but, soon calmed down.
Zena scuttled over to the hay pile with me a little ways behind. “Are you okay?” asked Zena as
the girl emerged from the hay pile, dangling her dragon by it's tail. “Yeah, thanks.”Said the girl with a
smile. “He does this all the ti- Hey! I know you!” She cried, finally getting a good look at us. “You're
the ones who warned us about the goblins.” Zena beamed and said, “Yes. We're glad you got away in
