Science: The water cycle is the process by which water makes the journey from the sky to the earth. Although familiar to us, it was not properly formulated until Bernard Palissy in 1580. The cycle consists of 6 phases: condensation, infiltration (rain water soaking into the ground through the soil), runoff (the saturated soil runs off into bodies of water, such as lakes), evaporation, precipitation, and transporation (water evaporating from the leaves of plants).
Islam:
Quran 23:18 --> "We send down water from the skies in accordance with a measure, and then We cause it to lodge it in the Earth..."
Quran 39:21 --> "Are you not aware that it is God who sends down water from the skies, and then causes it to travel through the Earth in the shape of springs?"
Quran 30:48 --> "It is God who sends forth the winds that raise a cloud, whereupon He spreads it over the skies, and causes it to break up so that you see rain issue from within it..."
