Yugioh GX:season one, A Godly Mistake

The Academy

"That was Some Duel." Yugi complimented, as he led Jaden through Kaiba Corp. and into the main lobby.

"Thanks," Jaden laughed "But its really thanks to you giving me Slifer, if I didn't have him,

I doubt i'd have won so easily."

"No, I think you would have found a way, you seem rather resourceful" Yugi said heading towards the receptionists desk.

"Hello Yugi, how can I help you today?" the overly happy employee exclaimed when she noticed Yugi approacing her desk.

"Hi, Rebecca," Yugi said glancing towards the elevator near her desk,"I need to see Kaiba, I called ahead,

But it appears he's late"

"Oh, not a problem, and who's this with you? You know Kaiba doesnt like it when you bring friends around his company." Rebecca said eyeing Jaden through her glasses. "I mean, I dont think he's forgiven Joey for last time yet."

"He's a student, just passed his exams, he wont cause any trouble." Yugi promised.

Rebecca looked like she wanted to argue, but just shook her head and sighed. Reaching under her desk she pulled

out a key and handed it to Yugi.

"Fine, but if he sets Kaiba off you're on your own this time" she huffed as she turned her eyes back to her computer screen.

Yugi just laughed as he put his hand on Jadens shoulder and steered him towards the elevator. Inserting the key into a panel on the doors they began to open and the two stepped inside.

The doors closed abruptly behind Jaden as he boarded, and Yugi hit a button muttering something about hoping he got the right floor this time.

The Elevator began to take them up as Jaden began to get a bit nervous. 'Taking Jaden aside to talk was one thing, but taking him to Seto Kaiba? he wasn't in any trouble was he?'

before he knew it, they stopped moving and the Doors slid open to reveal a huge office taking up nearly the entire top floor.

Plants lined the walls leading up to the glass side of the building, showing off an amazing view of the sunny afternoon in Domino City.

Looking out onto the City was a man wearing a white coat, with his back turned to the two duelists.

"You're late Motou" he sneered as Seto Kaiba turned to face them, sizing Jaden up,"Ah, so this is the applicant who thought he could come to MY entrance exams late."

Jaden tried to say something, but the look Kaiba was giving him told him he should probably stay quiet.

"And you, do you have any idea how hard it was to bring the God cards back after the Ceremonial Duel? I literally had to build a portal to Ancient Egypts afterlife and get them from Atem, and here you are giving one of them away like it's candy!" Kaiba yelled at the King of Games.

Kaiba closed his eyes and took a deep breath, before turning on Jaden again. "Mokuba tells me you beat Crowler in two turns, and that you were actually able to summon Slifer...without it trying to kill you, is this correct?"

"Yeah, thats pretty much how it went down," Jaden laughed trying to ease the tension before realizing what Kaiba said,"wait...trying to kill me?"

Yugi looked at Jaden surprised,"You do remember Battle City right? The Gods dont like being used by just anyone. One of the contestants that made it to the blimp tried to summon Ra and was struck by Lightning"

"Point is, Yugi here fucked up and gave you the wrong card, and now we're going to fix the issue." Kaiba said stepping towards Jaden, causing him to take a step back.

Unnoticed by Kaiba dark clouds began to rapidly form outside as lightning flashed in the distance.

"Kaiba, perhaps taking Slifer away from him may not be the best course of action" Yugi stated pointing out the windowas as a heavy rainstorm began to fall and lightning illuminated the city.

Kaiba turned and took note of the sudden storm, and took a step away from Jaden before moving over to his large desk and picking up his cell phone.

He looked straight at Jaden,"You are not to summon Slifer on my campus during school related Duels, do I make myself clear?"

"Sure thing," Jaden said laughing. 'I mean, I geuss it wouldn't be fair if I used him all the time

against the students' Jaden thought.

"Good, now get the hell out of my office! Yugi and I need to talk in private, and I dont need you missing the flight to the Academy." Kaiba said sternly, pointing towards the elevator.

Yugi gave Jaden a reassuring smile and nodded towards the elevator as the sky began to clear up as quickly as the storm rolled in.

Jaden gave Yugi a thumbs up, "I promise i'll make you proud" he said as he took off.

After the doors closed after Jaden, Kaiba turned to Yugi,"why didn't you just give him the damn furball"

Yugi closed his eyes, remebering the night before, the Winged Kuriboh was so inssitent on being placed first in his deck so he could be given to a certain someone easily. The King of Games was SURE Slifer was not in that spot. Yet somehow, he was. "I tried to give him Kuriboh, Slifer wasn't there when I put my deck together, Perhaps Slifer willed it to be this way?" Yugi stated trying to come up with a logical reason.

"Either way this is going to be a very annoying four Years" Kaiba muttered sitting in his chair and began dialing.

*Six hours later*

Jaden and Syrus sporting red vests, stood chatting about rare cards as a guy in a yellow vest walked by and recognized Jaden from the exams and walked over.

"Hello, Jaden Yuki was it?" the stranger said smiling extending his hand towards Jaden.

"Yep, thats me!" Jaden laughed shaking his hand.

"My name is Bastion Misawa," he said formally. "That was an impressive duel against Dr.Crowler, i'd go so far to say that you may very well be the second best new student here."

"Are you kidding?" Jaden laughed, "i'm going to be the next King of Games, I can't possibly be second best."

"Wait, aren't you the guy that won his duel in his first turn?" Syrus spoke up.

Bastion smiled at Syrus, "It seems my reputation precedes me."

"You won turn one?" Jaden exclaimed getting excited, "You must be really good!"

"Indeed," Bastion smiled, "Perhaps you'd like a little friendly competition?"
