The journey back to the apartment was a silent one. Neither of them even tried talking, they just looked forward and walked through the streets. Their relationship had taken twists and turns throughout the time they've known each other. They had good moments where they got to know each other and they laughed and had fun, and there were the bad moments when they yelled and argued.

Right now was one of those bad moments. As soon as the door shut, Dick was asking questions. "Who the hell were you running from?!" Dick nearly yelled. "I already told you, it was a gang member!" Damian yelled back. "Don't give me that! I know that's a lie!" Now Dick was yelling.

"It was no one, stop asking." Damian said, now quiet. "No! I'm not going to stop asking! I've given you space before, I've stopped pushing before but I'm done! I need to know Damian!" Dick yelled. To his surprise–Damian started crying. Dick immediately lightened up and bent down to his height. By now Damian was full on sobbing.

Damian wiped his tears with his sleeve. "I'm sorry." He choked out through sobs. Dick placed his hands around Damian's shoulders, "Awh Damian, its ok, its ok, I just want to help. I need to know who you saw and what is going on." Dick said with a soft and calming tone, which made Damian cry even harder.

He had been trying to forget all about what happened at home–why he ran away. He wanted to hide it from Dick, but he knew it would come out eventually. Dick let Damian calm down for a couple minutes. They both sat on the couch side by side as Dick rubbed soothing circles on Damian's back. Soon Damian's crying stopped and it was just occasional sniffles.

"The man that I saw in the streets, his name is Alfred. He's my butler. My father probably sent him to look for me." Damian finally said. Dick was surprised to hear he had a butler, but he hid it so Damian could continue. Damian sighed. "I used to..live with my mother until a couple years ago. One day she just decided that she didn't want me anymore and..sent me to live with Father who I'd never even met before." Damian said, beginning to tear up again.

Dick again, didn't say anything. He wanted him to finish what he had to say before he did anything.

"I ranaway because, well, me and Father had an argument–a bad one. He started to say how..he wished he never took me from my mother." Damian said, he let a few tears slip but he stayed together other than that. Dick was furious and upset at the same time. Who would say that to a child? A million thoughts were racing through his mind, but all were interrupted by Damian.

"Why do you worry about me? I'm just someone you found at the police station. Why are you doing this for me?" He asked. Dick wrapped his arm around him and rested his chin on his head. "You've grown on me," Dick started with a chuckle. "you're like the little brother I never had."

Damian sniffed and pushed Dick off his head, laughing, "I've known you for 2 days, stop getting all sappy!" Dick laughed with him. "Grayson?" Damian asked suddenly. "Yeah?" Dick asked, wondering what Damian had to say. "What's your family like?" Dick hesitated a bit before smiling slightly, though not a happy smile–more of a hurt smile. "I don't have any family left." Dick said finally. Damian looked up to him, looking upset upon hearing his words.

"I was in a circus group called 'The Flying Grayson's', we were acrobats. When I was around 8, we were performing as normal. I was about to jump to my mother when..the rope ripped." Dick said. He'd only told this story to a select few, he was surprised he was even telling it to Damian but, somehow it felt right to.

As for Damian, he was speechless. Yeah, he's had family problems and issues but, he's never lost a member, and he could never imagine what that would feel like. Dick noticed Damian's reaction and decided to change the subject. "How about I make dinner?" Dick said, now with a calming smile. Damian hesitated but nodded.

They both stood up from the couch and made their way to the kitchen. Damian sat on the barstool just as he did the other day while Dick looked for food. "Were there animals in the circus?" Damian asked. Dick perked up. He never talked about his life in the circus–he'd never gotten the chance to. "Oh yeah! There were tons! We had lions and tigers and bears, we had snakes, we even had an elephant named Zitka, but shh, she was secretly my favorite." Dick said, all while smiling from ear to ear.

Damian liked the change in the atmosphere and even laughed at the comment at the end. Dick continued to tell stories of the circus as he made them both sandwiches.

After they ate, Damian told his own stories of his life in Arabia, until he moved to Gotham to live with his Father. He even spoke some Arabic for Dick, and in return, Dick spoke Romani for him. Tonight was fun for the both of them, they laughed and shared. They didn't argue at all.

Not too long after, they had fallen asleep on the couch, snuggled up against one another.

They fell asleep smiling.
