Aria's POV
"Haha, that was fun!"
"I know right?!" says Sam.
We're at the outlets right across from us because we decided just to walk and get to know each other.
"You're not as bad as I thought you were Mr. Sam Wilkinson."
"You too, Ms. Aria Gonzalez."
We accidently hold hands and got close to each other and he looks at me and I look at him. Eye to eye, I can see the green in his eyes, I can see them sparkle. He smiles at me and he leans forward and I lean forward and then our lips touch but I push away. It was my one chance, but I just couldn't take it. Not right now. It just wasn't right. Or was it?
"I'm so sorry." said Sam
"I think, um, we should get back to work now."
"Yeah, great idea."
It was raining outside here in New York City and we didn't have a car since the outlets were just across from each other and I had no jacket.
"Here take my jacket." Sam yells over the loud cars.
"No, I'm fine Sam. We aren't that far anyways."
"No seriously Aria. Just take it."
He leaves me no choice and Sam puts the jacket around me. I'm in heels and I am the worst at it. Without hesitation I hold onto Sam's hand for safety. Just friendly. Only friendly. He stares at our hands that are interlocked and he keeps going through the street with my hand onto his hand. He looks like a hero. We finally get into the building and we take the elevator. I give him his jacket back. We're both cold and we're shivering and there is an awkward silence. And then we just start laughing out of nowhere.
"Look how soaked you are!" I say laughing.
"Look at me? Look at you. You're hair is all wet and string looking now haha!"
The elevator stops for some reason and we are both stuck. We bump into each other again, this time alot more closer. My hands around him and his hands around my waist. I can feel the tension again. We both smile and then we slowly just kiss.
Second time, and I mean it felt like something sparked between us. Like this was meant to happen. We are supposed to kiss, but is that it? The elevator starts moving again and we let go of each other. Sam is smiling again and it makes me want to just be his. Could this be love? I practically just got to know him, and I-I think I love him. No, I can't. This can't be right.
-A week after the kiss-
I was out for a week because I had this vacation to Los Angeles. I was kind of relieved I got this week off after the kiss but for some reason I just couldn't get my mind off it. I had to get to work already since I was an hour late already.
Sam's POV
"I heard Aria is coming back today"
"Are you sure? She should be here by now. She's an hour late now."
"Maybe some flight delay or something. You know airports these days."
I heard those employees talking about her. It felt lonely without her here. I mean she was my first friend. Don't get me wrong but she still is, I just don't know if are we more than that. I sat at my desk and did some work that was on my agenda for today and I look up and I see a woman with a floral dress and wedges on. She looks totally different. Like she got some makeover or something. I like
it though. I smile at her just so she gets the memo that she looks beautiful today but she just ignores me, so I just go back to working. Lacey knocks and she comes in and I can hear Lacey and Aria talking. It's nice hearing Aria's voice again. Then I overheard something that caught my attention.
"Aria, so I heard there is this huge party this weekend at the club if you want to come? I mean I'm going!"
"Uhh, I don't know I'm kind of jet lagged from the trip back home and I have so much to do."
"Awww Aria, don't be such a party pooper. Hey Sam, do you want to go? This weekend. Get to know everyone even though we probably might get drunk." I can see Aria looking at me when Lacey asked if I wanted to go.
"Oh, me!" I chuckle. "I think I'll pass this time. I don't drink often. Only on special occasions."
"But this is a special occasion!"
"Haha. Thanks Lacey but I'll pass this kne plus I have to get my presentation ready. Next time probably."
"You two are party poopers. I'm leaving. Bye."
Annnd, then there's the awkward silence.. AGAIN!
"So, how's your week?" I ask Aria.
"Busy, tiring, I just want to sleep right now."
"You look great though Aria."
"Thanks."
"So how have you been Sam?"
"Alright. Been busy around here."
"Oh yeah. Get used to it now buddy."
"Buddy?" I say in my mind.
"Well I'm going to get some copies of this month's magazine cover."
"Wait, Aria!" I say, but she already walked away. I need to talk to her. I don't know what we are. Just friends? Business partners? or more than that? Because I think we are even more than that. I think I love her. I know I love her.
