"Square root of 13." I said to my teacher when she called on me.

"Great job Miss Porter."

I smiled and wrote a few things down on my paper.

"Okay, for homework do numbers 1-37 odd on page 645."

The bell rang indicating the end of the class and everyone rushed out of the class, except for me and Noah. He sat in the back of the room while I sat in the front, closer to the board. I wrote down the homework in my agenda before packing up my things. I stood up from my desk and headed towards the door.

"See you tomorrow Mrs. Johns." I said to my teacher.

"Miss Porter, wait one second." she called after me and waved me over to her desk. I walked towards her, skeptical of what she wanted.

"Yes?" I questioned.

She held out a paper that said "Tutors Wanted" on it with more information at the bottom. "I know a few students that need some help in Trigonometry and you seem to be an expert on the subject. Or at least close to it. You get nearly perfect scores on all of your tests and quizzes and you always do your homework. If you're interested, sign at the bottom, have a parent sign as well and hand it back to me tomorrow."

With that being said, she walked away without giving me a chance to respond. I walked towards the door and bumped into Noah.

"Oh, I'm sorry." I spoke. He held the door open for me to walk out and we started walking down the hall together.

"Nah, you good." he spoke and licked his lips. "I, uh, ran into that boyfriend of yours yesterday. We got into it a little bit but nothing major. I know you're tired of hearing this but-"

"I know, I know. 'He's not good for you. You need to get rid of him.' Blah, blah, blah."

"At least you know. Anyways, I heard Mrs. Johns talking about that tutor shit. You gonna do it?"

"I don't know. Maybe."

"Well if you do, I'm in need of a tutor." he smiled shyly.

"Really? I thought you were good in math."

"Yeah, but not as good as you. And if my grades keep slipping like they are now, Coach is gonna kick me off the basketball team."

"Well, I'll think about it and let you know."

"Cool." he smiled. Just before he was about to say something else, the warning bell rang signaling we had only 30 seconds to get to class. "Well I should get going." he said.

"Yeah, my class is right here." I pointed to the door. "I'll see you around?"

"Yeah, see you." he stared at me for a few seconds more before jogging down the hall. I walked into class and sighed, almost dreamily.

The rest of the day was a drag but I had finally made it. I walked to my car and noticed Naomi hugged up on some boy I had never met. I scoffed and rolled my eyes because they were near my car.

"Excuse me." I spoke with an attitude.

"Ev, I'll see you later." she said to the boy. He whispered something in her ear making her giggle. Then he walked away, leaving me and Naomi alone.

"Hey." she said.

"Hi." I responded dryly.

"Don't be like that, As. You know I was only telling you that stuff because I love you."
